    * Since I wont make $100 million like Floyd, I will pass on $40 million, and then proceed to make significantly less money in my next fight, which is a high risk one at that.

Sorry, but no matter how you slice it, Pac not taking that offer was stupid, imo. Especially considering he went on to 'lose' to Bradley, and then got put out by JMM.

Had he taken that offer, and beaten mayweather, he would have been the biggest fighter since Mike Tyson, and he could get the money he or anyone else feel he missed out on the first fight.

Had he lost to Mayweather, he would have still gotten payed more then any other fight he could possibly have, his stock barely drops, and he goes on with his career.

You don't turn down the most money you can ever make, because you aren't making more of it, and then go on to accept less money against a guy who you can never beat decisively, which turned out horribly for him.

Other fighters that come from that flawed school of thinking *Winky Wright and Shane Mosley

    idk... just imo

    :good

its easy to say it was 'dumb' in hindsight, but at the time people were split as to who was the best
best boxer on the planet v. the best fighter on the planet....we all lost

You sound like an educated fool. Or a fool trying to sound educated.

I know exactly what you are saying....

    But the thing is this.

At the end of the day, Pac lost out on a huge payday (bigger then he can ever dream of having otherwise), and even more then that, a big opportunity, which would lead to even bigger money, if he had won.

You do not turn down your biggest possible payday, by far, because you are not making as much as you think you should be making.

    - He lost the payday
    - He lost that opportunity
    - He had to take other, risky fights, for significantly less money

Financially, marketing wise, and legacy wise, Pac lost out.

Someone can spin it any way one wants, and believe me, it wasn't a fair offer from Floyd, but sometimes even if a deal is unfair, the smart move is to take it.

Given that 100million is the general figure of what Floyd could have earned for the fight. Manny getting 40million works out at roughly a 71/29 split.

Pretty clear it wasn't a serious offer that they knew would be rejected.

legacy wise they both lost out
ego killed the fight, they both would have made a killing at 50/50 - or 40/40 and 20 for the winner....

no reason for pac to take a 40 mill offer at the time when he deserved an even cut

Losing is losing, imo. That Mayweather lost his biggest payday/legacy/chance as well, does not somehow override the fact that Pac lost his, and doesn't make losing out on that those things any better. Nor does if it was fair or not. Those things don't make a bad decision (to not take it) into a good one.

One has to look at the net result. And in that net result, Pac came out faaaarrrrr worse then he would have had he taken the fight. And that's not factoring in the fact he went on to lose two straight and get knocked out. Im talking financially and opportunity wise. We wont even get into had he actually won that fight and what comes with that.

Too many fighters miss out on their biggest possible paydays (meaning, they are losing out on money... flat out) because of what their opponent will be making.

I know it hurts the ego, and flies in the face of what appears to be business savy, but at the end of the day, if you are losing out on money that you wont make otherwise, sometimes you have to put emotion aside, check your ego, and make the better decision.

idk... its all just imo. but whats true is pac would be a much richer man today had he taken that offer, and would have given himself the opportunity to beat mayweather.

sure, but at the time nobody knew how their careers would play out
either way, its unforgivable that they couldn't both make concessions to make this fight happen

it was selfish, it robbed a non-mainstream sport of arguably their greatest ever night, and I blame both of them for it

Manny had a 5050 split and a 14 day cutoff right under is coke-snorter.

"14 day too close....I still in hebby trainy"

Maria Sharapova doesn't need 14 minutes to recover from more stringent tests.

What makes you *******s think he was scared of Margarito? That subhuman, parasitical verminous filth Arum told you to, so you did.

He was offered 8 mil for Margarito, and told there was NO chance of a 20 mil fight with Oscar.

So he told Arum and Top Rank to fvck themselves, fought Baldo for the same 8 mil, then got the Oscar fight, and the 20 mil.

Its not hard to see if you wipe Paci-OW's sperm from your eyes.

Its the same with him, as it was with Cotto. Fvck Arum off, and we can do business. Other than *******s, no one gives a fvck about Arum, or what he says, does, or wants.
