Is There Anything Mayweather Can Do To Be G.O.A.T?

    He has four more fights after Canelo, maybe more... Is there anything he can do within now until then to be classed the g.o.a.t? Who would he have to fight to earn it? Could he earn it by KO'ing every single person in the first round regardless of who he fights? Is the division deep enough to have 4 more credible names to his list? Can he earn it by beating a Klitschko? Or is there nothing he can possibly do that for the rest of our lives we have to class SRR as the greatest or Magic Matthew Hatton (Depending on your view). I think he can earn it if he beats Canelo in a dominating fashion, then fights Matthysse, then Martinez followed by Pacquiao and Bradley (if he continues to win). I dont care if they fight for two different promotion companies this is a hypothetical question and in this question he can fight anybody he wants. Now type....

    There is nothing he can do to be the GOAT, and probably nothing he can do to crack the top 25.

    No, being the GOAT is as much about being liked as it is skill. Like it or not GOAT and ATG status are subjective. Floyd rubs too many people the wrong way and even if people think it doesn't affect their vote, subconsciously it does. For every 1 Al Bernstein out there, there are 100s of Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith who see things one way.

    The thing of it is, Floyd isn't even a top 10 welterweight all time.

    He has sensational skills, but let's keep a little perspective.

    Disagree about top 10 Welter, but yeah he's not GOAT on my list although I do think he's the best of his generation.

    Where would you rank him all time as a welter? And what do you consider his crowning achievement at welter?

    Bull****. Greatness is based on accomplishments, and Floyd's just don't compare to those of the GOAT Ray Robinson... Not even close.

    Actually you're right, I wasn't thinking about the welter division when I replied. Floyd was at this best in the featherweight-lightweight.

    I understand. But that also means that there will never be a better fighter then SRR. Nobody in this day and age will come close to 200 fights. So looking at Mayweathers fights and resume. Theres not a lot you could change to make it almost perfect. He's beaten everybody he has faced most of which with style. Never been properly dropped, barely has a mark on his face in his fights, When he got hit by Mosley that was the only real punch we've seen a sign of danger which isnt too bad if you consider how many fights he's had until that time and the calibre of his opposition.

    no....and to be fair...the crop of talent isn't legendary stuff either...takes legends to make legends.....there just aren't alot of GREAT fighters around today period.

    A GOAT that's afraid for his health in the fight business :lol::patsch.

    Even if Floyd knock out Wald at heavyweight it would only be equal to what PAC is doing.

    Floyd: What PAC is doing is like if I was knocking out heavyweight :lol:.

    Hmm lets see

    After beating he weight drained novice....

    1. Move up to MW and take on GGG
    2. Move up to 168 and take on Ward


    He does these two things, he will accomplish MORE than was ever expected from him, and earn himself a place oretty high up in the top 20



    What marks Floyd down though, is that he would NEVER chance anything remotely as dangerous

    No, he wasn't looking to be it either. Watch all access episode 2, he mentions that he is always looking to have the advantage over his opponents, that his goal is to make as much money as possible while fighting as little as possible. He's accomplished his goal, he doesn't seem to care too much about his legacy.
