I like your path, but it's completely unrealistic that he'd fight anyone at 160, let alone Golovkin.

Only thing he doesn't have is one punch KO power,if you want to see a great Money fight look at the Gatti fight.

I can not believe the things I read on here.
Floyd is the best fighter of his generation, how many 20 year generations have there been in boxing 5 or 6?
To say he is not one of the very best is crazy. I do not understand so many people talking about all these fighters who have been retired for 40+ years. How is that relevant?
Also how many ATG's were given that status while still boxing?
When Floyd retires he will be missed, and many years will pass before we see another with his talent.

There is not a fighter (living or dead) that displayed a better skillset than Floyd Mayweather. He takes a back seat to no one. Being the GOAT is a myth because there never was and never will be a true GOAT but he stands shoulder to shoulder with any ATG.

Do you think pot shooting and getting a points victory is the same as Tyson destroying a fighter, or Hagler's destruction of Hearns? If that's your criteria who you have at number 1?

    Calzaghe ?

Same thing was said about Jones, SRL, Hagler, Duran, Ali, and of course Tyson..so missing a fighter who's left the sport is nothing new.

Depends on your definition of skill set. I'd pick SRL and Duran over Floyd in terms of skills, Sweet Pea too.

and until I see Mayweather take on a middleweight and beat him the way Duran beat Barkley, Mayweather's not passing him in my book. and personally I think a prime De la Hoya, a prime SSM, certainly SRL, Hearns etc. The guys great, but he's certainly not the best.

Hell he himself claims to fight for money and to preserve his heath, and while these are noble objectives they're pretty much the exact opposition of what a fighter needs to do to become an ATG. To be an ATG you have to fight fighters most thing you would loose to and yet find away to win. Not to stack the deck as much as you can before a fight starts and then claim to be greatest after you win.

Fair point. But you have to understand that he hasnt exactly picked the best sport to 'preserve his health' so it cant be a big factor. Some people say he ducked Pacquiao, Okay, But he was at the top of the throne. If he was in the era of the fab 4, he would have to be on top of the pile in order to fight for money or preserve his health and theres no way he ducks all 4 of them. He only dictates terms because hes the best guy out there. I dont think these 'excuses' he uses now would apply to a different era. He would just fight them same as everyone else claiming he's the best exposing their weaknesses. So far, we havent seen a weakness in mayweather which isnt bad after 40+ fights!

Fair enough, but do any of us know how good his chin is? Do any of us know how he'd do against a prime Duran or a Pac? Obviously not, such you yourself said he ducked Pac. The biggest question I have about Mayweather is how would he do against a pressure fighter with a good chin and lots of power, and how would he react when he got hit, cause he ain't blocking everything.

If Floyd could get in the ring and provide me with an answer to these questions, I'd have a lot more respect for him, even if he lost the fight.

As for the fab 4, I don't know if he beats any of them. Can't imagine him fighting Hagler or Hearns, so I think he'd duck a couple of them.

Well he hasnt been knocked down yet and you cant question his chin if his defense is sublime. No you're right, its impossible to tell the outcome of a fantasy fight which is why i dont understand how some people are so certain that the old generation fighters could hack todays modern age. Im sure they could but if SRR fought Mayweather 10 times im sure both men would win a couple. I think he wouldnt have fought all of the fab four, he would have beaten two maybe three and waited for the rest to lose (similar to pac) to then be deemed as 'he would have won anyway'

Lol if floyd has 4 more fights after canelo, 4 wars and wins them all he'l be considered an ATG... he's never in close fights and this is what bores people. Not his fault he's better than all his opposition lol..
