To be fair that can only be down to you being unable to score a fight properly.

Hearn admitted in ifilm London he fought Ricky lost, but u can tell he don't want rematch and said it will never happen in us. It will never happen at all as Burns and Nelson want to keep Ricky as the paper champion he is and always has been.

It was a decent fight, Beltran gave it a real go. He failed to finish the show and taking a break in a couple of rounds cost him the victory. Beltran deserved the win. He hurt Ricky, pushed him back and got a knockdown. A couple of rounds were close and Ricky probably landed a few light punches to allow him to steal a few rounds, especially with the crowds reactions. Everyone watching the fight with me had Beltran winning easily. Ricky got lucky with the draw last night. He should have lost by anything between 1-4 rounds. Away from home it would possibly have been 7-8 points or more for Beltran.

Considering people on this website constantly go on about iron bearded warriors and glass jaws you would think Burns would get some credit. He could easily have quit in the second round and watched the thousands of fans go home empty handed. It was plain as day Burns was injured in there yet he fought on to the end.

I for one have never been punched in the face by a professional boxer but I can only imagine its pretty bad and magnified ten fold with a dislocated jaw. Of course Beltran won the fight, he should have taken Burns out if he is worthy of being champ after all he had ten rounds to do it.

Burns and his team are hardly going to admit defeat, no boxers ever do. It will dramatically damage their stock. Burns offered the rematch and did not shy away from it. Typical British mentality, Burns is a nice bloke. He doesn't go round smashing people up outside pubs or declaring he is the second coming of Tyson. Give the guy a brake, this used to be a boxing forum to discuss boxing not gossip and snipe like a bunch of old women.

    ^^ This ^^

People just like to criticize from the comfort of their living room.

Yes, the decision was bad, and yes his trainer and promoter will try to defend it as best they can but Burns was ( and always is ) honest enough to admit he was lucky tonight.

Sure Billy will get some stick on here ( he knows that ) but Burns should be applauded more than criticized today.

And fair play to Beltran, showed a lot of class inside and OUTSIDE the ring last night.

Fair point about Beltran he was pure class, look forward to seeing him fight again also. And for the people calling Burns a paper champ, are we forgetting the night he won his first title? Me and my mate couldn't believe the performance he put in against Martinez, getting off the canvas to win a title.

Take a look at your own life's and achievements before knocking those of an honest bloke, making a living for his wife and kid by fighting with a broken jaw. Former WBC champion victor Ortiz chose not to do so a while back.

Same thing happened when Scott Harrison fought Victor Polo. Harrison was well beaten that night and got a draw.

I guess you have not watched much boxing then, it was far from the worst decision ever.

I think Burns lost, but the Burns camp paid a premium to get the fight at home, and thus gain an advantage if something went wrong. You might not like it, but that is boxing...

As for Nelson, what is he meant to say? I am sure Burns is very sore this morning, and Billy very disappointed. But they have managed most importantly to keep the belt. Jaws heel and if the Burns can look at what went wrong, they come back strongly in a rematch, where hopefully Beltran gets financial compensation (a better purse), to make up for the last night.

Dannyboy Martinez is only world class fighter Ricky has beat, Kastidas and Mitchell have been beat everytime they went to world level, Ricky is another Cleverly and if he ever fights a top top lightweight he will be flattened. Dodged Broner and walked away from Vasquez fight, unification talk is to sell tickets, when offered these fights he says no as he is getting nice pay days. Billy come on here saying hes flying in training, you will see the real Ricky Burns, ask his sparring partners. Hearn says he wants unification fights, too many people fall for it and buy the tickets. The guy makes most of his limited ability, he throws poor combinations, has a bad jab, lacks power and when pressured his defence falls apart. I tell you what I would happily take a broken jaw for 150-200k and kid people on I am great if people are gullable and fall for it. Hearn is best promoter in UK, but even he want be able to shift tickets for when Mr Average fights again

Beltran clearly won the fight & should of got the decision you make some very fair points.Burns was obviously in clear pain & showed how tough he is physically & mentally to hear the last bell.No fighter, trainer or manager post interview would ever admit to being given a gift. When they watch it back again they will know they got lucky.

That being said Beltran not being able to stop him should not shy away from the fact he should of won.People shocked at bad decisions in Boxing?Sadly happens all the time all over the world home town fighter wins we certainly can't ***** about Germany etc Beltran gave a great interview.
'Politics & protecting investments' being the key points.

Listen, Beltran did win last night and the judges made a complete **** up of it all.

That isn't Ricky's fault, he went into the ring and under performed... A lot of that is to do with the fact he braved a snapped jaw for 10 rounds where credit has to be given, many fighter would have pulled out e.g. Ortiz for example

The honourable thing for Hearns to do is arrange a rematch

It pains me to see Ricky burns as a world champion, he is probably the 2nd worst British world champion ever after Enzo.

Your tough enough to fight a pro with a broken jaw are you? What do you do for a living then? I'm not saying he has a record full of pound for pound ranked fighters, Ricky doesn't say that either. Who exactly has Broner fought that is world class? An ageing Malignaggi or euro level midget Gavin Rees?!!!

A promoter is milking a fighter, stop the press!!!!!! Boxing is a business, who knew!!! **** me you clearly have an agenda mate, Burns has a bad jab does he, you need to stop smoking that crack pipe mate.
