There is an element of truth in this.

Conversely much of Wlad's rep is based on beating the worst collection of challengers in living memory. And managing to look pedestrian and agonisingly boring in the process.

You said Johnson style makes " your **** boil " yet you defend him as if he was a saint. At least Wlad ko his guys cleanly. And his tittle opposition was far better than Johnson's.

When the guy with overwhelming physical superiority also has tremendous ability.

History and perspective is becoming distorted by this sort of ****. Vlad is a good fighter with a crap chin who would lose to every great HW in a series. Yet some are now trying to put him in the top 10? Based on what? Based on how crap the division has been since Lewis retired and the fact he's a huge guy, nothing more

Give Langford today's training, nutrition and boxing's evolutionary benefits and Vlad yet again finds himself stumbling around on the canvas, his chin smashed to bits by a far superior fighter. An ex featherweight :good

Johnson's style is boring to me I prefer to watch Dempsey,or Louis .

Boring or not, I can be objective about his obvious abilities ,
you cannot be objective because, as McGrain has said, you are a f*****g halfwit.

I thought you said you were not going to reply to me? . Whatever. Lying, playing double standards, and failing to offer a reply quote in full context are your calling cards.

You should be gratified that McGrain called you a halfwit, I think he was being much too generous.

Give us more brilliant commentary please. Like the time you said Floyd Mayweather's opponents would be journeyman in the 1920's. Pure gold.:lol:

I not only said that, I named those I was referring to , and many of them were champions, or challengers that fought Mayweather for titles.
Since I named them no one has come forward to contradict me either.

I may be a little harsh on Wladimir in order to make a point. There's no doubt those statistics are impressive. He's an imposing obstacle and has forged a style that makes him undeniably difficult to beat.

However, this climbing number of defences may be attributed more so to dedication as opposed to having to adapt or 'grind it out' so to speak...in a word, greatness. The fight we really needed to see was the rematch against Sanders, but bigger brother Vitali came in which was wrong in more ways than one.

Over the last few years I've read much on how Wladimir's style has improved, but he seems to have merely streamlined it, sacrificing that more offensive shtick of the early 00's for this safer, measured approach. It's a style designed to mask a weakness that has flared up a few times, and while he deserves full credit for smoothing it over it's not something we can ignore when hypothesizing a bout with the likes of Sam Langford.

A tremendous size and possible style advantage, yes, but 15 rounds is a long time. Sam was on the level of Fitzsimmons when it came to spying the 'off' switch, and he'd need only one chance.

I have to admit that I'm afraid to jump into the fray here as this matchup seems to elicit strong emotions on both sides...but I'll jump in nonetheless. With such a size differential here it would seem that Langfords only chance is to KO vlad which, given his power and Vlad's chin is a possibility. But I wonder if he could even reach his chin. I'm not in awe of Vlad...never was, but you have to give him credit where credit is due. He's a well schooled big man with good boxing skills and tremendous power...Ok maybe not tremendous power but good power. Plus he moves well for a man his size. He's not a lumbering oaf with 2 left feet.and he's always in good shape...not an ounce of fat on him unlike many of today's HW's. I think it's a stretch when some say that Langford, all 5'6" of him and 180lbs would steamroll Vlad. I for one don't see it happening. Sam has to get inside to land and on the way in he's going to have to weather the storm from a big man who throws educated combinations. If he can get inside without taking too much punishment and land flush on Vlad's chin then yes I think he could turn the trick but it's not gonna be easy. If vlad can keep his distance while dropping right hands and left hooks on the the much shorter Langford, he wins, plain and simple. I'm a big time lover of the old timers but size and ability do matter and Vlad has both...just not a great chin...which could be his undoing here. Now I'm gonna hide.

Thanks Ted. I would give Langford and any big time puncher an early puncher's chance vs Wlad. But Wlad's height, defense, and style limit the chances any puncher has.

To complicate thing Wlad has an intercepting jab, quick & punihsing right, and moves his feet. If the in-fighting threatens to break out, Wlad can execute a vice like clinch where he not only locks up tight, he presses his weight down on the other guy, draining his stamina.

Wlad loses every time, it just a matter of when, does langford ko him 2 like the south african 5 like brewster or 11 like purritty. I can't imagine that any scenario wlad wins

    Wlad would demolish him.
30 minutes of footage creates this matchup being equitable somehow.
I don't see how you can take the style and dimensions of an early 20th century great and try to match him up with a current great.

Langford was a middleweight, wouldn't find Wlad's chin, would find the canvas, almost certainly wouldn't go the distance.

Also Wlad lost to Purrity, Brewster and Sanders, but is it a sure thing that Langford would beat any of these guys outside of Purrity?
