Things haven't been good recently for this crop.

Amir Khan, an 8-1 favorite (?) gets flattened by Garcia. It seems Khan's attempt at the highest level could be over.

Hatton comes back and is a 3-1 favorite against Senchenko. He gets KO'd by a body shot and looks horrible during the bout.

Price is a 10-1 favorite against Thompson. He is easily maneuvered by Tony and gets EMBARRASSINGLY knocked by a tap to the ear.

Price rematches Thompson and is a 3-1 favorite. He gets knocked out again. Price is finished.

Nathan Cleverly comes in a slight favorite to Kovalev (LOL at that one). Cleverly is crushed as nearly everyone predicted. Outskilled, outgunned, purely outclassed. Cleverly exposed as a paper titlist.

Ricky Burns comes in a 4.5-1 favorite against Beltran. Gets his face smashed and exposed as one of the weakest PAPER titlists in the sport. Earns a disgusting, shameful robbery. Done at the upper level of his division.

Times are tough for this crop. Honestly the best result to come out of the UK recently is Murray's hometown loss to Sergio.

We'll see how Fury does against Haye, but getting knocked down by CUNNINGHAM does not bode well at all.

How about Ashley Theophane? he should have gotten the victory over Garcia IMO

In all seriousness, these things happen, more people crop up, fighters go through stages of being on good form and bad form etc (wasn't Beltran stopped by Ameth Diaz before getting robbed vs Bogere?)

come on, let's not go overboard

Quit talking shite about British fighters ya dumb fat *******s

What happened to Seth Mitchell? I thought he was hyped to be such a great heavyweight.

Cleverly was favoured to beat Kovalev because he is obliviously super skilled and talented but he fought a dumb fight standing in front of Kovalev and trading punches.

Burns severely underestimated Beltran. Hes not on Burns level when he is prepared and ready to fight.

The winner of this would have some steam but...Haye has already fallen WAY short against Wlad, and I don't think Fury is made of the right stuff to be champion.

Murray is probably the best right now, but let's face it he'd get slaughtered by Gennady if he challenged for a belt.

Uk fighters stack up pretty decent against fighters of other bigger nations if you take factors like population, and number of top class boxing gyms within these nations, and also let's not forget the sheer volume of fighterd operating from these gyms. The level of sparring must be awesome for these guys and it is something to admire. So I cannot understand why people would constantly scoff and belittle Uk fighters when they lose to someone who going by the above logic, is going to be far superior in ability and preperation (due to the world class resources available) than the Uk fighter.

To answer your question, I think Darren Barker has done fantastically well to win legitimately a world title. This was no vacant WBO like usual, but a genuine world champion that he beat in a neutral venue in true world champion fashion. It has to be applauded.

Also, Billy Joe Saunders could be very good and operate at the top level when he is ready. No doubt he will be beaten eventually or given a gift at home as nearly every fighter in the sport is given eventually, especially American hometown fighters let's not forget, so let's not pretend that the recent Burns fight is something unique to the UK or Scotland.

To summarize I think the level of fighter we have coming through in the UK is very healthy at present taking into consideration our standing compared to bigger nations and should have a handful of fighters challenging for world titles for a while yet.

And one of those "scumbags" beat the crap out of your moving statue of a fighter and he's never been the same since.
