Floyd can never be seen as an ATG P4P Top 20 as he hasn't beaten any PEAK ATG Top 20 divisional fighters fighting in their proper weight class.

    Judah
    Gatti
    Baldomir
    Corrales
    Castillo
    Hernandez
    Gatti
    Manfredy
    Hatton
    De La Hoya
    Mosley
    Cotto
    Marquez

Pick any P4P Top 10 ATG fighter in history and they all have some wins against ATG Top 20 divisional fighters.

    Floyd just ain't a ATG P4P Top 20.

One big point missed, for how many of these fights was floyd in his peak and in his ideal weight class??????

Floyd grew into a welterweight over time. Your argument hits the skids if you recall Floyd wanted Hatton at 147lbs when Hatton was shown to only be a 140lb fighter as proved against Callozo in Boston that night.

Floyd only fought at 154 against guys well past their prime.

He's also only fought at 154 twice, and once against a guy five years younger than him. Had Cotto not had his ass kicked twice, nobody would have been calling him "past his prime".

But my point is, no matter what you say when he fought half of these guys, he was also not in his prime and not in his ideal weight class.. look at floyd, through age hes 147 but his size says 140 to me.. so really its not prime vs not prime.. and floyd wins lol

Cotto had been exposed and was mentally fragile from the first Margo fight long before that.

Cotto will also never be considered an ATG Top 20 in any weight class.

Floyd has no wins against a great who wasn't old or jumping two weight classes.

To be an ATG you need to beat great fighters when they aren't running on fumes.

But your looking into it too much... it's hard to have two guys prime v prime.. i mean hagler ray leanords a good example... if hagler would of won that people would of just said oh leanord was old, hadn't fought in 3 years etc.. leanord wins it an he an ATG lol were the prime v prime... no.

    corrales was unbeaten...
    hatton was unbeated
cotto had just beat margarito, but i agree he was mentaly fragile but theres no denying he put in a great performance vs floyd
castillo is surely an atg at 135??
Hernandez was unbeaten in 7 years & had never been beaten at 130.. and floyd was 21...
Floyd jumped at 154 to fight oscar, who'd fought at the weight for 8 years..he was past his prime.. but then even in oscars prime he lost most of his big fights.
    Marquez is an ATG

Floyd was still peak when he fought Hatton. He only started to show signs of deterioration when he came back from his self imposed 2 year break from the sport. Since coming back he has taken the softest option every time.

The question stands. When has Floyd beaten an ATG Top 20 weight division champ???

What prime ATGs could he have realistically fought, though?

Bull****. He's taken on nothing but champions and highly ranked fighters coming off impressive wins since coming back from retirement. The softest option would have been fighting total bums, never mind C-level fighters like Brandon Rios.

Well there's one obvious one in Pacquiao.

He could also have taken on a peak Shane, prime Kostya Tszyu, a better version of Oscar even Hamad. Chasing down those fights at the right time would have meant he was beating ATG fighters in their prime.

Mayweather has the talent but he just doesn't have the right wins to put himself up there with the all time p4p greats.

Guerrero - not a top fighter

Miguel Cotto - well well past it

Victor Ortiz - only way to describe this fight is bizarre

Shane Mosley - C'mon all the old man wanted to do was touch gloves.

Juan Manuel Marquez - jumped 2 divisions was fat and was counting the money while he had a sparring session with Floyd.

    Lets be realistic?

Floyd has no prime great fighters on his resume and without those he will never be seen as one of the greatest of all times.

Yes agreed. I've always said Floyd lacks a signature win. It's bad when Diego Corrales is your best win. If Floyd beats Canelo, then Canelo will be his best win. His biggest hope at that point, legacy wise, would be to hope that Canelo later establishes himself as an ATG.

you understand there is factual evidence that mosley ducked floyd due to a "toothache" right? larry merchant in a post fight interviewed laughed at floyd when he said hed love to fight hamed "haha! his not gonna fight you". and he was right.. hamed ducked marquez who was his mandatory for 2 years why would he fight someone who looked completely invincible

at the time tszyu was on showtime floyd was on HBO, arum was floyds promoter at the time so you just know that greedy mofo aient going to co promote, he almost never has...

    Excuses excuses.

To be all time great you have to beat a great.

Floyd never beat a great so he's not going to be Top 20 ATG.
