no one cares! rightfully so! solis is a shame to all dedicated boxers. he's never going to be in shape and he will never live up to his potential.
A fight between Solis and a top ten contender would be better. He should beat the journeyman Lawrence fairly easily, but he's running out of time at age 34 and needs a decent win.
Sadly enough, I think Lawrence might actually be one in some or another org... :think I don't know. He didn't beat Larsen as easily as he ought to have...
He's inexplicably ranked #14 by the WBC. True, he struggled with Larsen. The unheralded Christian Hammer beat Larsen more decisively. Although Solis has talent and skills, he won't go far because he isn't dedicated to boxing. I was hoping for him to get a good win under his belt and then fight Wladimir, but I think he'd likely lose to the top ten HWs now.
Yeah, I thought I remembered him being up there somehow. He's #9 among US heavyweights on Boxrec, maybe that's what I was thinking of. I've seen people call him a prospect/contender rather than, as you rightly say, a journeyman - despite him never having beaten anyone better than Firtha/Gavern/Estrada and having lost in his biggest step up to shot "Aging Bull" McCall and drawing with freaking Willie Chapman. :blood Hammer is a case of desire triumphing over limited natural talent; Solis is the exact opposite. :nod
Nice to hear Solis is keeping active at least. This is not a bad fight. If Solis keeps doing this he will end up #1 at some org. ranking and land another mandatory eliminator. I wonder if Jennings would be interested in a matchup with Solis after the Adamek fight flew away. Maybe HBO could pick it up for some undercard. Charr, Chisora, KJ, Tor Hammer, Takam and Amir Mansour are names that Solis should consider.
