Certainly thought Beltran won the fight by a couple of rounds it's the general view backed up by the scribes at ringside. The rematch being offered is only right whatever the view on the scoring Burns had no influence on that hometown fighter gets given a gift happens the world over not right but sadly boxing at times summed up by Beltran's excellent & honest interview afterwards politics & protection of interests key points.Totally true & a challenger that fought a excellent fight hopefully he takes a rematch. What Ricky Burns showed though was tremendous mental & physical strength to get to the bell sure it greatly effected his performance anyone saying otherwise being totally unfair. For you certainly gave the right advice between rounds & kept his mind on the job in hand kudos to you for that.Kept calm seen many a corner panic in similar situations the fighter then picks up on it. For Ricky hope his recovery goes well & hopefully see him back in the ring next spring it will need a lot of rest & rehab from that injury.Good luck to him in that but he showed enough mental toughness Saturday that I don't doubt he can comeback stronger.
Billy first off respect to you for coming on here and putting your points across. Secondly Burns was a true warrior carrying on with a broken jaw. Thirdly I thought you gave him some good advice all the way though the fight... But..........deep down if your being honest with yourself you know burns lost that by 3 or so rounds maybe more. It's not your fault the judges saw it like that but your comments after the fight don't help your cause. If you had come out and said we had a bad day at the office, we got lucky but we will give him a rematch and nail him in that you would have got more respect Hope Ricky makes a quick recovery !!
Judging is terrible but the focus for me is Burns showed he is made from the stuff of legends. He has always been upright, pulls back, wings his punches etc but he was usually rangey enough and fast enough to get away with it. I would never expect him to beat a fighter like Broner but I was suprised to see Beltran make him pay like that. The issue becomes redundant once it has been confirmed that his jaw was a clean break. Burns is a nice guy who is made from stuff we (and most fighters) could only ever dream of. I was suprised to see him wincing like that. I thought it was the guys power but I always rated Ricky as durable. It turns out it was his messed up jaw. The decision was poor but that story line should go hand in hand with the courage displayed. Too many are professing that Gonzalez won and some of it was skill but we won't know until Ricky fights him with a fully functioning jaw. 99.9% get stopped early but like I said Rickys made from stuff we don't know about. I don't mind a fighter losing but I'd prefer it was to a top fighter rather than Beltran. It's a while off but I hope to see the rematch. Hopefully Hearns will learn like ****** that these bull**** fights are simply not worth the risk. Ricky has become a victim to incredibly poor management. They are all trying to ride the gravy train rather than let him test himself agains the best of the best.
We all agree that Ricky show great heart and toughness to go the full 12 rounds but that does not affect how each round should be scored. The same criteria for scoring rounds applies whether Burn's jaw is broken or not to do otherwise would be penalising Beltran for breaking Ricky's jaw.
Eh. You don't know for a fact Beltran would, yet you claimed it would happen. Billy comes out with something similar and you have go at him...
He never said they should,he agreed in fact that Beltran won and a rematch should be arranged. What's your point?
He hasn't agreed Beltran won at all. He said live on sky he thought the result was fair. Billy did Beltran win in your view yes or no????? He will say no.
What's happening, finally you are not being a knob on here. McDonalds given you a freebie? What did you make of Eddie Hearn and his comments Burns should go up to 140? I disagree if he goes to 140 he will be blasted away, lightweight is as heavy as he should go.
All the best to you and Ricky billy, glad to hear the op went well, we had the fight on down my local but without any sound (bloody Dj) but i could see from the second round onwards that Ricky just wasn't himself, I was telling my mates he don't normally fight like this something's wrong? I thought once I saw the replay mid fight perhaps it was an ear problem as Ricky's balance seemed all over the shop but the jaw now makes sense. Fair play to Ricky for carrying on with it and doing aswell as he did in the end I say! Look forward to seeing him back in the ring again soon.
Yeah we get it, you're Scottish and biased. Burns got beat clearly, only jocks would say otherwise. NEXT !!
He said they were fortunate...what do you think that means,Ricky won or lost? Bear in mind what he would say if Ricky won fairly...
This forum just gets worse. People asking why Ricky was constantly holding!! Hmmmmmmm maybe the fact that he had a broken jaw!!!!! What do you expect him to do, stand and trade on the inside!!!!
