I think he ranks higher than him . Infact i think he better than chavez barrera marquez . Sanchez its hard to call but he could well be the greatest mexican fighter ever.

So hard to judge a fighter that stayed at 105 his whole career and many people didn't know about him until really late in his career. I know they are both boxers, but it's really hard to compare the two. If I had to I say Floyd is greater only because he has beaten names people have heard of.

Ricardo Lopez is a near perfect fighter, what makes his ATG ranking a bit lower is 2 reasons:

#1 Not working enough to become Undisputed at 105lbs, leaving Vorapin enjoy an undisturbed 20 IBF title defenses...Only to challenge him when he was past his prime

#2 His fights with Alvarez were too close & by effect forced him out Minimumweight.

Lopez ATG status is not far from Mayweather, his Alvarez fights are similar to Castillo 2 fighst with Mayweather. The only diff is that Mayweather is still active and can take much more bigger fights to enhance his ATG status

It was the rematch (and yes you make a good point, that the move was not exactly Alvarez), the first fight was really close. Both fight were close & might have been the reason Lopez decided to move up or wrap things up

Ricardo held the WBC for so long & his first fight was when he unified WBA & he never attempted to unify IBF

That said Ricardo Lopez is a top level ATG, his two flaws that I mentioned is what lowers his ATG ranking

Great career, but seriously lacking in competition. Easy to say now, but that kind of safety margin when you are the biggest guy in the division with a big punch and just stay there ... he has no wins over other ATG fighters. You cant rank him higher than Barrera, Marquez, and Morales, regardless of his sterling record. Those guys fought the very best regardless of weight class, climbing to find challenges.

Also, if he wasn't so tall, his bull **** WASTED JAB habit would have cost him. Paw, paw, paw, with no intention to reach or even really throw - an overhand right, right over the top if he were EVER fighting a guy taller than him, which would almost never happen in his career.

No way does he have the complete skill set Floyd does.

And Sanchez, while great, is vastly over-rated in the grand scheme of things because he destroyed Wilfredo Gomez ... the rest of his career is not THAT spectacular, except for the fact that the man never tired, ever.

If Barrera never fought Junior Jones, still had his bull **** loss to Morales, beat Hamed, and then promptly died, we would be calling HIM the greatest featherweight ever. It's all about the timing - if no one ever sees you age in the ring, or if you don't come up against your stylistic nightmare (Pac's career minus JMM) you wind up looking a lot better.

Great little fighter, but I have to be honest here, I just can't keep up with the lowest weight classes to know who's worth their salt and who isn't among his competition. It's also a shame he never moved up to further challenge himself.

Floyd ranks higher for me, but again, part of that is I'm much more familiar with who Floyd's beaten.
