The bottom line here is that he simply can't take a heavyweight punch and that isn't something you learn overnight. Punch resistance, to a large degree, requires a "**** you , you can't hurt me" attitude(which Arreola has) but it also can and should be developed with 100s of rounds of heavy sparring.
My point here is that experience pays dividends in any sport and, while Mitchell is a natural athlete that can punch really hard and move his head a bit, there is far more to fighting than just knowing how to throw hard punches.

Mitchell has fought much better opposition than Wilder.

Will Wilder ever fight a real fighter?

Finchley puncher Del Boy is more enraged that unbeaten Deontay Wilder recently slipped into Great Britain on the quiet to spar with David Haye, when he claimed earlier this year that he couldn’t leave the US to fight Chisora at Wembley Arena on June 15 because of his arrest for battery.

Mitchell is a great athlete and his offensive arsenal is really impressive. However, his defence is very leaky and unfortunately he´s losing his legs as soon as someone touches his chin. He has great heart though. Would love to see him being able to better his defence, he seems to be a great guy.

Agreed, wilder is a bum beater. Wilder will be 40-0 and cash out by letting klitschko knock him out. Not too bad for a guy who can barely write his own or hardly put together a coherent sentence, he'll make more money being knocked out by klitschko than he would in his entire life otherwise.

Agreed. I am surprised and struggle to understand why many people cannot throw punches, I see them come in the gym all the time. I show them how to throw a punch and they do something different, that is weird and obviously wrong, its not really a punch and but a weird pushing motion. If you don't learn boxing young it is really hard to perfect the fine tuning points.

Mitchell didn't get worse when he fought Arreola, he was simply exposed again for what he was. Witherspoon is not a puncher and he almost got Mitchell out of there in Mitchell's first real step up fight, only the detail that Witherspoon didn't have a good chin himself saved Mitchell. Banks wasn't much more of a puncher and he did stop Mitchell early in fight one, and almost did it twice in fight two. Mitchell won that fight because Banks decided to not throw punches at all for huge stretches despite the fact that he could hurt Mitchell when he did throw. So logically, facing a pretty big Heavyweight puncher that actually throws punches on a regular basis and has a solid chin, Mitchell had virtually no hope. Either his management was delusional or it was a cash-out fight for him. Mitchell simply does not have the chin or defensive abilities needed to succeed as a top level Heavyweight.

Yeah, Arreola was the wrong fighter to put Mitchell in with. I suspect that if Wilder were to fight Arreola he would get knocked out just like Mitchell. Perhaps Mitchell and Wilder should have a punch-out?! If Arreola gets a rematch with Stiverne, he will knock Stiverne out. I don't blame Arreola for wanting to fight Stiverne in a rematch...........
