People slate Frankies lack of power, but technically he is sound. Very good ring iq and his defence is world class aready.

Most British boxers are lacking a world class defence, and thats my main fear for George Groves.

Frankie Gavin, George Groves and Carl Frampton are three of few british fighters who hit with the correct part of the glove.

I agree, Gavin is a fantastic talent but if he's gonna fulfill his potential then he needs to step it up very soon, FW needs to get him a fight against someone in the top 10 of the division at the beginning of next year to set him up for a World Title shot.

I agree, he should at least have the european title at this point but im sure he will pick it up some time in 2014.

Years down the line we will look back and regard Frankie Gavin as one of our best in the next couple of years, as he steps up his talent becomes more and more obvious.

Top talent hopefully with everything ok outside of the ring we get to see the best of Gavin in the next few years.

A focused prepared Gavin well you all saw how easily he dealt with Vassell simply because he has levels we havn't seen yet.

i was one of gavins harshest critics , after the woodhouse fight , and didnt buy into the personal problems etc . But i thought vassell was bigger stronger version of woodhouse and thought hed have problems , but gavin upped his game and destroyed him. I always rated his exceptional boxing skills but thought 140 or 147 was to heavy and his lack of punch power might hurt him , but he made a believer out of me against vassell ! im not sure why but he reminds me of joe calzaghe, both have great intangibles that cant be taught.

Time will tell, he was supposed to be the next gold medalist at the Olympics.

If Frank treats him like his other fighters he gets exposed when he does step up in class, or avoids the top class.

I know David Barnes is a decent boxer but I see Gavins fight with him as merely marking time, and getting a Londsdale belt,as was pointed out.Vassell, probably capable of winning a European title himself,I think was a tougher match.Frankies win was excellent, and should have projected him to the next level.Hes easily capable of winning the Euro crown,if not more.As it is it'll probably be his last fight this year.

Yeah he gets the Lonsdale belt, but its also important that he stays active.

Gavin said hes going to be out again in december after this fight so four fights this year isnt bad!

I agree that of all the current British boxing contenders we have, Frankie Gavin has the greatest chance of reaching the very top of the sport.

My one doubt about him is still whether he's full focused and dedicated to the sport, when he was interviewed at the Cleverley-Kovalev card he was clearly very drunk and could hardly stand straight. Not good when you've got a fight only 5 weeks away even if he may not deem it the strongest challenger.
