Ah. :good I just saw you had updated the first two posts just within the last hour and thought you may have been including up-to-date results.

Honestly after having thought it over and read my own breakdown, I wouldn't be too fussed if they remained where they are for now - but would also very much endorse the idea of Ioka nudging up to #5 especially considering his greater dominance vis–à–vis the quality of the opposition.

If only! There are a bunch of guys and a bunch of opinions to be taken on sorted through weighed....i'm glad i'm the guy that changes the rankings on ESB rather than one of the guys who has to do all that.

I like your first sense better I think, without having seen the fight.

What about other inactive fighters? Andre Ward has not had a fight for a year, Yoan Pablo Hernandez will be the same after the weekend?

The rankings have really come along in the last few months. Good job mate.

    Cheers BD.

Ward is a champion - legitimate world champion's aren't subjected to the same rules as contenders.

Hernandez is going to be in breach in two days, as you've observed, at which point he'll be considered according to the rules.

I couldn't see anything in the rules that mentions when a Champion would be stripped. Whats the timeframe?

Also if Wlad has wins over the No.2 & No.3 what would he have to do to become Champion?

There is no timeframe - champions are special enough that they can be treated on a case-by-case basis.

Wlad has to fight the #2 whilst he's the #2.

Or of course, if he is ranked at #2, he has to take on the #1. When he's the #1.

So basically he has to get Haye in the ring again, chase him for another 12 rounds and he's the legitimate champ according the the TBR :D

Yes, or beat a new #2 contender.

Starting new lineage isn't easy, or straightforward. Nor should it be.

Re inactivity, by those standards Haye should be removed as well. On the other hand, Haye has a fight scheduled so I can understand making the exception.

In any case, I can't think of a good reason to rank Haye ahead of Povetkin. This is a results-based ranking, not an h2h ranking, and Povetkin's resume is far superior to Haye's.

But..... if Haye beats Fury that will strenghen Haye's case alot.

    Yes.

I think you have a very good point. I think it is close enough that there is a case to answer, and had things been a little different it might have made for some uncomfortable questions regarding the title. As it is, Haye beating Fury convincingly puts the problem to bed. A draw, a loss or a lucky win would see him drop a spot. So they have time to iron it out before Wladimir and Povetkin meet.

Shouldn't Floyd and Garcia be the new champions?
