How close is Floyd to Walker Smith pond for pound?

I don't they they were their ponds were close. Didn't Floyd grow up in Nevada, while Smith was from Georgia.

He must go and fight at Light Heavy and then feint before the fight is finished to be considered GOAT.

 

If Mayweather had stayed at the lower weights longer, he would have been closer. I will say that Mayweather has been more successful at the higher weights than SRR.

I think SRR had more natural talent, but Floyd has better ring generalship and know-how. Robinson always had trouble with certain fighters. Floyd seems able to make better in-fight adjustments.

As much as people don't like Floyd, he has one of the greatest ring IQ's of all boxers. Robinson has more longevity, so it's hard to compare.

It's hard to compare because of Floyd's lack of longevity. They were both dominant at their best weights and beat very good fighters. Like I said, had Floyd stayed at JLW or LW longer, he it would have been a better comparison.

Robinson has that track record and proven himself more, so he gets the nod. You can't compare them at WW because Floyd isn't a natural WW, and Robinson would have beaten him because Floyd would be too small and not have enough power to keep SRR at bay. I still say that Floyd has a better boxing mind than Robinson.

If Floyd had more activity, it'd be interesting to see how he'd do. The old time monsters like SRR are practically uncatchable for a guy with 50 fights. If Floyd had another 25 unbeaten fights, he'd still have less than half the wins SRR does and only a little over a 3rd of the fights.
