Steve Cunningham isn't known as a big puncher, but any man 200+ pounds if he gets his full weight behind and lands on an open, squared-up target will likely knock almost anyone down.

Nah, I think it's all a matter of how good you actually think David Haye is.
Haye's good but he's become ridiculously overrated.

And if you accept that Fury is still an improving fighter, it's interesting to see what he can do against the overrated Haye.

Haye should be favourite, but it's wrong to compare this to the Harrison fight. I am mystified as to how people ever bought in to the Harrison fight. But this one is a genuine fight.
Sure, maybe Fury gets knocked out 'cos he's not good enough, but maybe he's improved enough to give Haye a real test.

If people took the **** out of Haye, picking up on his ethnic background, like they do Fury, they'd be an outcry.

I don't think Haye is particularly great, although on here it seems some like to dismiss him as just a conman which is harsh considering his was the unified cruiserweight champion, for which he deserves respect. If they want to slate him they should specifically state its his heavyweight career they are referring to. I think he sneaks into the top 5 heavyweights, purely because of the current crops inability to deal with his style. He's a small fast power puncher, who will just avoid you and try and fire off combinations when he sees the opportunity, you need to be very disciplined as shown by Vladimir to negate the threat, there's few guys out there that I feel can pull that off for 12 rounds.

Fury like you say has certainly improved over the last few years but I think this point right now is the furthest he goes. I think they (The promoters and managers) know that too which is why this fight was made. Every fighter who was the next step up from Johnson would of beat him, which is why we got Cunningham. I am not sure if they hoped if they could get a klitschko fight without stepping up anymore or what, but I think someone with sense realised that its pointless risking it all for the Pulev fight for 150k/200k pounds when he can fight Haye in a fight which draws in every broadcaster, gets on Sky PPV and nets him (or probably more importantly, them) millions

    That's a fair assessment.

I don't know how you can tell that Fury has got to the point now where he can't improve more. It's all guess work. It's only in the last 4 fights or so that I've seen anything from him at all, before that I would have said he was utter crap.

Let's not forget that Cunningham was a good fighter, coming off a 'robbed win' loss to world-ranked Adamek, and in excellent shape.
Cunningham was a better opponent than the Monte Barrett who Haye made his HW 'world title campaign' debut against, and probably better than a couple more of Haye's HW foes.

I agree with you in so far as taking the big risk against Haye makes more sense than taking the big risk against Pulev, but I doubt anybody is 'cashing in' Fury as such .... I believe Peter Fury had a lot of say in this, and they believe Fury can win .... they also don't think losing would be the end of the world for a young fighter either, which is a refreshing old school attitude.
Of course taking this fight makes sense in many ways for Fury.
And of course maybe Fury will be 'found out' as not good enough .... but I certainly won't resent the hype around this match.
It's a genuine fight, a step up for Fury ... but this is no Haye-Harrison. This is an interesting fight.

I just don't see anything him in terms of talent, I feel like a trainer could get any guy with those physical attributes, have him work hard and train for 10 years and get this far just on being a big guy. I think you need more than that to compete at the top level unless you are really carefully matched

Glad to see him give it a go but you wonder if a top draw fighter can be made in one training camp. He is one punch away from a victory but had he started training like this earlier then who knows.

Well, he has heart, a willingness to fight. Most big guys wouldn't get this far.
For sure, I thought he was utter crap when I first saw him, but he's an improving fighter. That shows he has the ability to learn.
    "Talent" is a vague term.
