It was the boxing skills. Garcia didn't get lucky. Matthysse couldn't just bully inside because of Garcia's power. Garcia was landing good hard jabs followed up with some solid punches. Punches with enough power to command respect.

I disagree. If they have a rematch without all the dirty **** from Garcia than I would say he is better (like Mares-Agebko rematch proved).

Danny showed boxing maturity and generalship of the champion. Didn't really expected it from him.

    Lucas is the true warrior.

Without the KD Mathysse would've won 11th 10-9 instead of losing it 8-10

Danny can become a superstar of the sport now- he is extremley marketable. Great performance minus the low blows.
He must now get control of his father and stop his ridiculous tirades though

Props to Garcia for controlling the fight. Coming in with all the hype that Mathysse had you would have thought that would have messed with Garcias mind.

Props to Mathysse too. That eye was swelling nasty but his corner did an amazing job bringing it down.

What a boxing performance by Garcia!!! I'd put that right up with Rigondeaux's win over Donaire for performance of the year to date. I scored it 8-3-1 rounds for Garcia, giving Matthysse the 2nd, 6th, and 10th rounds, with the 1st round 10-10 even, the 11th 10-8 Garcia for the (probably correct) knockdown, and the 12th 9-9 with Garcia winning but with the point deduction for the low blow. Garcia started tentatively, but grew into the fight, and the 7th round was clearly the turning point, not sure if a single punch closed Matthysse's right eye, but it was from punch(es), and after that Matthysse wasted a couple rounds worrying about protecting the eye when he probably already was down on the scorecards. Matthysse's corner did a brilliant job limiting the eye swelling, but credit Garcia for boxing well, he didn't even particularly target the eye with left hooks, he boxed well with both hands, and looked very fluid. The scorecards I thought were 1-2 rounds too close, but at least the right man won. Great win!!!
