De La Hoya, Cotto, Alvarez...Is that not Impressive?

Floyd has had 3 fights at Junior Middleweight, each time he is outweighed by a significant amount and each time he knocks off the lineal 154 champion. There is always excuses made to explain away Mayweather's victories but wins over De La Hoya, Cotto, and Saul Alvarez at 154 are very impressive. Floyd is an ATG

 

None of those guys were lineal champs. However, they were highly rated champs. Two of them are future HOFers. Here's another thing, it's about time people realize that skill and experience are a lot more important than size and age. Alvarez was the prime, natural JMW. However, he looked totally lost out there. He simply wasn't ready for what Mayweather was bringing to the table. Oscar and Cotto weren't at their peak, but they were more talented, and experienced fighters. They were much more prepared mentally, and thus performed better than Alvarez.

 

He has the best resume at LMW than any other fighter at the weight.

And there's the excuses right there, thats right explain away Oscar, Cotto, Canelo as not being at their best as if Floyd is forever 25, in his prime, perfectly healthy whenever he fights.

 

It is impressive, considering Floyd is a rather small welterweight. You can say Oscar/Cotto was past their prime, Canelo was weight drained/too inexperienced, etc. etc.

Regardless, beating those three guys is impressive. Floyd put on a clinic last night.

 

Put an asterisk next to Cotto's name. The guy had the prime beat out of him by two guys Floyd avoided.

 

Even if you wanted to say Canelo was "weight drained" he was fighting a 36 year old past prime light hitting welterweight who only came in at 150 lbs. How much more of an advantage does Canelo need? An extra 5 lbs taking him to 170 perhaps? Floyd has to fight with one arm only? Floyd had no advantages other than skill and experience, lets keep it real!

 

I personally don't believe Canelo could have beaten Floyd no matter what the contracted weight was. Just saying, that's what people will say about it.

 

Would be impressive if Oscar was PRIME and not washed up.

Floyd isn't prime anymore, he has diminished some, although looked better last night than last couple fights. He was prime vs. oscar though and oscar was over the hill, everyone knows that. Put that Oscar vs. the Floyd of late, Oscar wins. Oscar almost beat the prime version of Floyd.

 

with all the fights they were showing to promote this I noticed that too, even with JMM even though he lost every round he punched better with Mayweather and landed some good clean shots but was just too small
