Mayweather never vacated his WBA title. This is how messed up the WBA is, even hardcore fans are confused. Mayweather won the Super Title from Cotto. Canelo beat Trout for the regular title. Mayweather and Alvarez were both WBA JMW title holders going into last night's bout.

Are you stupid? I said all along he'l come in 165, no more than 170 defo. Not because of the catchweight, because he wouldn't want to become sluggish going to higher weights, you need some speed to beat floyd, staying lower in weight will give you that.

Total bull****. Canelo has never needed to adjust in a fight and therefore does not know how to. That has nothing to do with weight, that is boxing IQ.

I agree it's confusing, but you're confused also. Mayweather won the WBA Super World light middleweight title vs Cotto. Canelo won the WBA Super World light middleweight title vs Trout. (the same title - confirmed via Boxrec)

I don't know how exactly they were both WBA JMW title holders. That doesn't make any sense. Even more confusing, Showtime kept calling both titles "Super Welterweight" titles. (which is not technically the name of the titles, despite how Super Welterweight and Light Middleweight are used interchangably)

But even worse than all that, is the fact that the WBC LMW title was a title that Canelo has held since 2011. And yet FMJ was able to possess Canelo's title going into the match, and he was actually allowed to put real Gold in Canelo's title and bring it to the weigh-in. It's just beyond belief how ridiculous this is. Even the most die hard ***** can't deny how absurd that it.

If it had nothing to do with weight, then why did Floyd need a catchweight?

Wow, was 165 not enough for you? How much weight does he need against a 150 lb fighter?

it's not the weight he has an issue with...it's the fact Mayweather didn't lose

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not mexican, and I'm not a huge Canelo fan. I don't even hate FMJ. I'm just pointing out the facts. Basically it's turned into a mob mentality of *****s, if you don't blame the judges for not giving FMJ a UD then you must be mexican and hate Floyd or something.

I'm actually neutral when it comes to boxing fights. I don't have an issue with Mayweather winning. I thought he won the actual fight. I thought many of those rounds Canelo did good for the first 2 and a half minutes, then Floyd ended a lot of those rounds strong. I think had there not been the catchweight, Canelo would have had more energy to finish those rounds strong and win those rounds convincingly. That's why it was a farce of a fight by FMJ. But Canelo's stock should only improve after earning a majority decision while weight drained. The lack of a UD should get him an immediate rematch at 154. However, if FMJ wants to fight Amir Khan at 147 first, that would be great. Canelo is still the best 154 lb fighter out there. FMJ is the best Catchweight fighter ever.

if they fought at 154 mayweather would just come in at 150 again and canelo would blow up to 170 and the same outcome would happen. i'm not sure canelo could beat mayweather at any weight at this point. his best hope would be a knock out but how is he gonna do that if he can't catch him? if he keeps his weight down and improves his speed he might not carry the power with him.
