I've seen a few threads saying that except for the eye injury, he would have beaten Garcia. How did he injure his eye?
never saw any punch that did it and it swelled very rapidly after a scrappy clinch. And garcia like billy goat headbutted him the round before it swelled.
I got the same vibe. I wasnt able to review the time of the injury, but I thought it was as you said, during a clinch and I thought there was a lot of butting going on during those rds, 7-9 when the swelling came up and was at it's worst.:think
So, in other words people making excuses for the eye injury causing him to lose the fight are like people making excuses for someone losing a fight because of a concussion.
Was this just bad luck? I have seen some fighters take more punishment but their eyes remain the same, Is it just how the eye reacts on the night?
Even if his eye was not slightly closed, I dont see a different outcome. Danny fought almost a perfect fight; he was freezing up Lucas with combinations and made him hesitant. Lucas was throwing less and didnt seem to catch & hurt Danny much when he was throwing.
