Golovkin brings nothing to the table as far as marketability goes. Only hardcore fight fans knows who he is.

He's an HBO fighter and isn't leaving the network anytime in the near future.

Who the hell has he beaten to even think he deserves a chance against Floyd? Rosado? Macklin? i think he's a very good fighter with exceptional power punching ability, but he's fought no one of note up to this point.

Let him beat Kid CHocolate and Sergio Martinez, than leave HBO, than at that point I'd say he'd be deserving of a shot against Floyd. He'd be better off beating Andre Ward as well, than he could really start lobbying for the fight.

Only guy right now that seems deserving of a shot is Garcia and probably pacman depending on how he looks agsint Rios and if he can avenge his loss to either BRadley or JMM.

What's the title of this thread? Who's #1 at 154?

That said, as a Floyd hater he shouldn't have to take this fight, just keep your excuses in order. Floyd should defend vs mando Lara (no chance, PPV bust), or go back to welter.

Mayweather will duck GGG at all costs because he doesn't want that loss on his record.

^He fought on HBO on non-PPV. DO we need to dissect the amount of subscribers that HBO has in comparison to other premium movie channels (i.e. Showtime.)

Still that number is impressive, but no one knows the guy outside of hardcore boxing fans. And he's beaten no one of note to be even spoken about as a potential candidate to fight FLoyd.

Matthew Macklin, while a pretty good fighter, doesn't do much to enhance his resume as a potential opponent for FLoyd. let him clean out the MW division first and than maybe.

I think Sergio has a much better chance of getting a shot at FLoyd if he finishes his last 2 fights with HBO, leaves the network with his lineal championship intact, and goes over to Showtime to fight Mayweather. Now HE is deserving of a shot given how wonderful his resume is especially the last 3-4 years (except for probably his last 2 fights where he's looked sluggish to put it nicely.)

ggg should shut his ass up and actually fight at 154 first. otherwise, he's just like sergio who kept begging for a fight yet didn't prove he can make weight at 154

^^hahaha ATG? Maybe as an amateur.

It's hard to take someone serious with the handle Butethe Beast. Now that's one overrated glorified scrub. He should stay in Canada and continue fighting tomato cans.

Who's calling him out at 154 LOL? Golovkin will only fight @154 if someone calls him out or he calls out smb. Who he shall be calling out at this weight to keep some intrigue there?
That's the answer why he didn't fight at this weight. And that's the same reason why Martinez will most likely go down to 154 in his last two fights :good.

You pretty much have to add 30% cause that was on Showtime. No doubt Canelo is 10x the attraction that GGG is, mostly for being a ginger Mexican I guess. His talent, fighting style, or personality sure don't explain it
