    Sure you're right.

On the other hand, unless I'm mistaken, an old Duran went up and got a belt from Iran Barkley, who was known to be a pretty mean mother****er at the time. Wasn't that at 168?

I wouldn't call Floyd a ducker or any stoopid thing like that if he doesn't, but if he wants it, I'd sure watch it.

And it wouldn't freak me out if he won, either.

GGG vs Floyd would be epic.
I am a Floyd fan and would love to see it.
Problem is he would get little credit for it,GGG is still unproven to most and if Floyd beat him,it would just show GGG as hype more than a great win for Floyd.
Come on any good middleweight should be able to beat a guy who is a natural LWW.

It's 2 weight classes, and meeting in the middle at 154 where Golovkin would be fighting at a weight he hasn't made since he's been a pro.

Not that I think Mayweather could win this, but who knows how GGGs power would hold up if he was drained like that. We aint seen him drop like that before......it could prove disastrous.

The only MW I want to see Floyd against is Martinez. Simply b/c he seems a more natural LMW, and b/c I think Floyd is just weak enough not to hurt him real badly, but at the same time, Floyd would beat him while giving him one final career high payday so he could retire without being mauled.:think

Next they will demand that he fights Andre Ward followed by both Hopkins and Kolaev then both Klitschkos.

Most of the thread starters about this were presumably Floyd fans saying " He doesn't have to fight a middleweight, but he would school him anyway", you might even be one of them with one of your alts.

Floyd is not going to fight Golovkin, period.

For one it's obvious Floyd is a welterweight,, junior middleweight is not his natural weight class and it never will be, crying out for him to fight middleweights is absurd.

Also Floyd has a multi-million dollar showtime deal, while Golovkin is tied down fighting on HBO, two networks at war with each other over boxing.

Finally, there are bigger money fights out there for Mayweather, he would make more money fighting somebody more known in the states like Khan or Garcia than Golovkin. I'm not saying those are harder fights, Golovkin is probably the hardest test Floyd could face now till the end of his career, but it will never happen.

    Somebody that is making sense!

Add Martinez to the list of people Floyd will not be fighting. He is basically tied to HBO for the remainder of his career as is Floyd to Showtime.

I think Mayweather Vs. Joe Louis would be easier to negotiate than this.
THiS fight will never happen because of politics first...

Now lets add all the other reasons it's not feasible.

No need for that fight for Floyd. It seems like people are just stretching and it says something that a great (albeit smaller) middleweight with exceptional punching power is the name they come up with.

No natural 154 or below fighter is beating Floyd now. Floyd would be attempting the impossible if he was going after full-fledged middleweights, and his legacy is strong enough that he simply doesn't need to.
