Tougher fight for Floyd. Hatton or Canelo???

Hatton really did every thing within his power to go for the win. He could not do it.

Canelo was okay losing a decision.

Hatton went out on his sword.

Canelo went out with his cash.

 

Canelo, Last time I checked Hatton got KTFO

 

It's actually a very difficult question to answer, for a number of reasons.

 

Hatton and Cotto are the only guys in recent years who habe gone out and tried to beat Floyd. All the others just wanted to last 12 rounds.

 

gotta give hatton credit he kept charing forward looking to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get a win even though it was clear by the middle rounds it was not going to happen, kid had heart

 

Both are very different fighters. I think Hatton applied more pressure and forced Floyd to make adjustments but Mayweather was not hit much and of course got the KO.

Canelo landed a lot more than Hatton but Mayweather was able to fight his fight throughout and never had to up is level very often as he was in control throughout the fight.

Tough one to call but I'd say Canelo gave him a slightly tougher fight. Canelo did land some hard shots they just had no effect on Mayweather and he did go the distance. Canelo also landed twice as many punches as Hatton.

 

Hatton made Floyd work harder, no doubt. Canelo tried to make it a chess match - walk in the park for Floyd. Can't believe Alvarez didn't try and impose his size and strength, the only chance he had. Canelo didn't leave it all in the ring, Hatton did. If Canelo went in there with the same do or die attitude I'm sure he could've given Floyd a tougher fight than Ricky

Cotto > Hatton > Alvarez > Guerrero > Ortiz, in terms of how they did against Mayweather.

(though I gave one more round to Guerrero than Alvarez)

 

about the same. Hatton was smaller though so he gets more credit.

 

Hatton by a long shot, he went all out and actually did OK for the first few rounds. Also he was a much better fighter than Canelo will ever be (sorry but someone had to say it, no matter how much stick Hatton gets on here).

 

Hatton was tougher because he had the ability to close the distance and put pressure on PBF whether it was effective or not. He made PBF have to exert himself and work hard despite the fact that it was an underrated clinic and PBF stopped him. It has to be Hatton because he made PBF work with Canelo he stayed back allowed PBF to think and fought PBF's fight.

 

Ortiz was way more of a live opponent for FMJ than Guerrero. Ortiz actually landed some nice combos. Nothing Guerrero landed was as impressive as what Ortiz was doing before the headbutt.

I think Ortiz actually had the best energy level against Floyd. I thought Guerrero clearly did the worst out of those 5. And Cotto and Hatton were past their physical peak. (Cotto way past his prime, and Hatton was slower and more plodding at 147 than when he beat Tszyu) Hatton looked much worse when he stepped up to 147 to fight Collazo. He barely won that fight and many thought he lost it. I think you gotta say Alvarez did the best, despite him being slightly drained. Hatton got KTFO, so you can't say he did better than Canelo against Floyd. The first half of that fight was very close though.

Cotto fought a tough fight, but you never once really had the feeling that Cotto was going to win. Whereas Canelo at least through the first 4 rounds, you felt like Canelo was determined enough to land a big shot.
