Mayweather is'nt going to outjab Hearns from a distance.
Hearns jab was superior and had real mustard on it. Great snap.

I think Mayweather would have to be timid throwing out his jab against Hearns as Hearns could strike with that one shot an out right like a cobra.

Hearns is just all wrong for Mayweather. If Hearns was around today, Mayweather would be sitting at home retired.

To beat Hearns you have to get on the inside and throw alot of shots up and down and hope to catch or wear down Hearns down the stretch.
Mayweather does'nt have Leonard type of Power to get quickly on the inside and launch shots with power.

Mayweather is more of a take your time type of fighter while Leonard could come at you like a buzzsaw if he stunned you.

Over 15, Mayweather would have a slight chance down the last three rounds if he had the benefit of watching the Leonard fight beforehand and analyze that Hearns could be had in the late rounds.
But on the night Leonard beat Hearns, without the benefit of knowing Heanrs weaknesses, Hearns quite comfortably outboxes Mayweather with the jab and or stops Mayweather if Mayweather wants to press the issue to get inside.

There is'nt a welterweight in history imo that would outbox Hearns at Welter. To beat him there you need to get inside and make a a rough and tumble fight.

FLOYD THE CHICKEN DUCKED...Margarito, Cotto, Pac and Paul Williams in their prime....SRR fought a prime Duran, Hearns and Hagler...all who could beat almost everyone on PBF's list of opponents easily....ROFL

Floyd is certainly an ATG, but resume plays a big role when ranking an ATG , so NO

firstly...i'm not a hater. i'm a fan. i picked him to beat canelo easily. he's displaying atg great talent....but i don't believe he has the atg accomplishments to back it up.

robinson went undefeated for 70 fights i believe before he lost to jake lamotta.

duran was 72-1 before he lost his 2nd fight to ray leonard.

robinson's longevity....and the fact that he fought and beat the best of his day well past his prime is why he's placed at the top.

Floyds greatness all time will be hinderd due to his comp. Its not his fault its just the way it gos. Hes great no doubt . The greatest ? His lack of comp says nope sorry. It dosnt help matters that he wont fight manny. But i know some people will argue that he is on par with ray. And they have a valid case but not in my opinion and to real true boxing historians ands he comes up a tad short.

    I couldn't agree more.

Floyd's only real chance would have been to fight him, instead of boxing him.

I just can't envisage Floyd fighting with a peak Tommy Hearns. It's ridiculous!

    Thanks!

Bernard explained it in a recent interview.

Competition is one thing. Its a HUGE thing but its not the only thing.

Floyd has been doing things in the ring that other all time great boxers simply did not have the ability to do.

I'm also wondering when he surpassed guys like Greb, Langford, Pep, Benny Leonard, etc.? That the media jumps straight to SRR shows me that they haven't done an ounce of work on their boxing history.

He has the skill and ability to be mentioned with the best fighters ever but his resume and legacy simply falls short. If he had beat prime Pac, perhaps beat Tszyu and dared to fight a middleweight.
