The film of that fight suggests he really couldn't punch that well or that often. He was missing openings and not pulling the trigger. His legs were shot, too.

    Marciano v Louis?

Always seems that way when a fighter loses against an awkward mauler.

In boxing you are only as good as your last fight. Louis beat a good fighter in his last fight. He could not have been that bad if he could still beat Jimmy bivins.

Read the next day reports and you will see he couldn't throw his right hand in that fight either.

Good God almighty Louis himself said he right hand was not there after the last Walcott fight. Choklab thinks because Louis was over 200lbs for the Marciano fight that means Marciano is proven against 200+ fighters .This is getting like the Dunkhorst argument. Bivins had lost his last fight to Clarence Henry, and 6 months earlier been stopped by Archie Moore.
Below is a report of the Bivins V Louis fight.

referee: Eddie Leonard 7-3 | judge: Lee Halfpenny 6-3 | judge: Bill Ellis 6-3
The official round-by-round scorecards, all in favor of Louis, were 7-3, 6-3-1, and 6-3-1. Louis's left jab scored most of his points as he only occasionally threw his right.

Here is a link to the Agramonte 2nd fight, it clearly states Louis no longer had his power.

No doubt Choklab will discount it. Waste of time debating with him

I have never said Louis was as good as the phenomenal champion he had been. Nor am I saying Joe Louis was anything like what prime Foreman had to offer. All I am saying is Louis was over 200lb, rated and comparable in size to prime Foreman by the time he met Marciano. Can you dispute this?

There is a ludicrously inaccurate myth going around that Marciano was too small to face anyone close to prime Foremans size. It is not true. Not only was marciano strong enough to beat men as big as prime Foreman but the record shows he did beat world class men as big as prime Foreman.

Joe Louis was still world class. No where did any reports say Louis was no longer world class. they might have been dissapointed he was no longer the exceptional champion he had once been but there was no disguising Louis was still beating good fighters. Marciano does not have to beat the best version of Joe Louis to be able to say he can beat a world class big man. All foreman beat before facing Frazier was George Chuvalo yet he was able to beat Joe Frazier.

People need to get past this size agenda.

I agree but that all they have to hold on too (size and the Frazier fight), Foreman in his early career got dropped a few times by Lyle (who if you look at his record was not really a big puncher) I can see Foreman 1 getting KO'd and running out of gas as well, If I focus on the Lyle fight the ref could have stopped 5 times in Lyles favor and there would have been no argument.

Another factor if we compare Marciano to Frazier, the one Foreman fought got rocked by terry Daniels (not top 10 and small) and Ron Stander (not top ten and 5"10) and we are judging Foreman on that Frazier

even a prime Frazier was a different style than Marciano (Rocky had 2 hands and a totally different style...comparing Marciano to Frazier because they were 5"11 WOULD BE LIKE COMPARING MARCIANO TO DWIGHT QUaWI

I have a hard time seeing Foreman get beyond the 5th.

He never had to experience the power of Marciano, not even close. Marciano is easily the hardest puncher ever to participate in the sport. I think that is a generally understood fact.

Ron Lyle vs. Marciano is a better matchup.
Foreman wins this early and Rocky doesn't beat the count.

Exactly, and Dwight Quawi would have knocked Foreman out with Marcianos power. In their fight 5'7" Quawi (with a strapped knee) was swatting George with both hands, he could not miss Foreman .

Foreman was taking 3 to land 1 against Quawi, that would be a bad ratio against Rocky Marciano.

Seriously, people need to rewatch the Foreman Quawi fight. It wasn't even close. Just another fight wherein a bigger guy walks down a smaller weaker opponent who can't hurt him... like hundreds of fights before and since. Not the revalatory clash that people tend to claim.

Now, Marciano is a different proposition all together. Stronger, more powerful, quicker and arguably bigger than Foreman. I can't see George making it past the 3rd.

How many times did Marciano take 3 to land 1?
That would be a good ratio against Foreman I suppose ?

Actually, I think Qawi is not even 5'7". It's amazing George had so much trouble with him. I mean, Foreman was past his best, but so was Qawi. And Qawi was fighting way above his usual weight class.
