if i were to introduce someone to boxing, calzaghe fights may be at the bottom of the list because his style is just too ****ing comical to watch. it would scar him badly someone with an elegant style and flair... middleweight Toney fights would be ideal.
Unorthodox, yes. Effective, hell yes. We can all criticize the guy's style, but he fought in the ring with gloves and none of his opponents, even after Joe was knocked down, could get the better of him.
Head doesnt seem so interested in the Zaggers threadas these days Foxy is the GOAT And in response to the thread, Calzaghe use to make me ROFL when he tried to showboat. He looked so awkward it was immense
It's comical altogether, laughing at him and his choice of opponents. Doubt there's anyone half sane or sober that would introduce anyone to boxing through Calzaghe.
I highly doubt that introducing some to boxing through Calzgahe fight against Lacy or his fights against Eubank of Kessler would do anything whatsoever to put them off. Against Lacy he put on a masterclass and was untouchable and againt Eubank and Kessler he had very competitive open and enjoyable fights. Certainly did nothing to turn me off of the sport when I was starting to get interested in it a few years back.
Prime Toney vs David Tiberi would be the best. We get to see a legendary fighter need a robbery over a guy who looks like he got done putting up aluminum siding at work that morning.
