^barely cracking top 30 is laughable. What ATG's in the history of the sport were so dominant in the late stages of their careers? FLoyd is truly one of a kind.

I don't agree with B-Hop at the notion that Floyd is top 3, although i do respect him and his insight into anything that's boxing related. very high praise from another legend of the sport and he makes some good points in the video.

Floyd's outside my top 10, but he's approaching the elites with every win he accumulates into his mid to late 30's. I can't remember any other guy in the history of the sport that was this dominant in their mid to late 30's aside from Hopkins himself (although he became a pro much later since he served a 7 year prison sentence.)

    SRR
    Armstrong
    Ali
    pep
    johnson
    duran
    greb
    marciano
    dempsey
    langford
    SRL

just to name a few off the top of my head listen floyds gonna crack the top 10 but i certainly dont feel comfortable naming a boxer so high up on the list when he has not even finished his career yet, you know what when you look at respected top 10 lists you can easily say "well at floyds current career you could prob fit him in there nicely"

until he retires he can only climb higher

edit: its also difficult to directly compare him to the older generation fighters because you look at people who had over 200 fights but you must also consider that they did not fight in the amateurs back then

^ I have him above Marciano already. All of Rocky's biggest wins were WELL past their prime former champions. Floyd is taking on top tier guys at their respective primes and wiping the floor with them. There's no way I can put Rocky M in any top 10 list. I have Louis rated much higher than him.

I do agree with you though that we should wait and see how his last few fights play out and once he's retired, people can rank him and his body of work accordingly.

Hopkins is becoming senile. The guy is losing credibility by the day. This is the same guy that thinks he can beat Floyd at 160.

you do raise a good point about marciano.. at the end of the day if your being talked about in the same sentence as any or all of the fighters i listed YOU ARE A ****ING LEGEND OF THE SPORT

every generation seems to have its superstars but floyd is really the only one of this generation to almost be guaranteed top 15 or top 10 place when he retires

You're crazy if you think Duran, Marciano, SRL, and Dempsey are ahead of that man.

He's beaten about 19 Former champions, rarely has gotten gift decisions. maybe 1 that should have been a draw against Castillo.

It doesnt matter how many people you fight. Its about the whos. You could have 200 fights, and they could all be 200 bums. There were guys fighting every 3 weeks back in the day. That couldnt happen today, as present day fighters are better conditioned.

    Right now my top 10.

    Ray Robinson
    Floyd Mayweather
    Ali
    Joe Louis
    Dempsey
    Pep
    Armstrong Jr.
    Jack Johnson
    Ray Leonard.
    Greb

Its not even about how many times, its about whos.

Boxing today requires far more athleticism and skill then before, just like in all sports.

You got fighters from the past who with the updated skillsets of fighters today would look like amateurs present day. Its a different game.

Its not a disrespec to the greats, its just what it is.

The same way that jerry west was a great baller then, but couldnt deal with the Westbrook's and Derrick Roses of today.

People think its disrespect to the greats so they dont rank newer guys higher, but the newer guys are better.

We are the upgrades, and better versions of our predecessors. its about a progression man

edit: i thought hard about Ali 3rd. but i put FMJ ahead of him because I stopped looking at the cultural impact, and just started comparing careers and skillsets. and if I were a boxer, I'd take Floyd's skillset over Ali's.
