    Andre Ward isn't Irish ******s...

What is it with Americans claiming to be Irish because their great-grandfather once hopped off a boat from Dublin? Seems to happen an awful lot, bunch of plastic paddies.

Anyway, Steve Collins was great. So good that Roy Jones Jr ducked him like a coward.

Dan Donnolly was great in his time by all accounts !
(So Revered they kept one of his freakishly long arms as a trophy ! )

I think i read somewhere that due to (distant) Irish ancestry the Irish wanted to
claim one Cassius Clay as their own - but probably too much of a stretch. !!

    :deal

Roy wanted nothing to do with Collins, he was done facing live opponents at that part of his career... when he stepped up in class again he got sparked.

    My impressions:

First two paragraphs = humorless ****.

    Third = absolute nutter.

So you're trying to claim that RJJ did NOT duck Collins?

You're deluded mate... RJJ wanted nothing to do with Collins.

collins is nowhere near rjj's lvl

its funny you should talk about stepping up in class. when collins stepped up in class he managed to receive two of the most one-sided and entertaining boxing lessons iv ever watched (mccallum, kalambay). if an autistic infant ever tried to match einstein in terms of wits, those two fights are what it would look like in boxing form

Both of Jim Driscoll's parents were Irish.

I'm not saying Jones never avoided challenges, nor that Collins was less than world class...but come on. Stylistically that was peak Jones all day. Being tough as nails and determined won't get the job done; ask Vinny Paz.

Honestly, it works out best for Steve that he never caught up to his Moby Dick. He would have been sorely outclassed and the way it has gone now he can always rest comfortably in the "What if..." scenarios although it's fairly obvious how "what if" would have played out. His resume flatters him - neither Eubank nor Benn were popping fresh - and the fruitless chase after Roy only augments his legend.

How many of those guys were actually from Ireland? Ireland can't produce them if they aren't from there.

rjj schooled the two best fighters he faced, fighters who were leagues above collins

collins got a hiding from the two best fighters he faced
