The hyperbole surrounding Mayweather victory..

More than enough people...people like you thought that Canelo would whip Floyd's ass. You were wrong. Now you probably made up the atg thing to help your point, but that won't soften the blow. Floyd won, and nobody is overrating his win. His fans are gloating. Get used to it.

 

Canelo should of tried to bring it to Floyd from early on, instead he opted to outbox possibly the most skilled fighter of our era, he never had the speed, the footwork or the stamina to catch FLoyd, other than the times Pretty Boy hung on the ropes, inviting Alvarez to throw punches

 

Like everyone, they get mistified by Floyd's speed and feel Floyd's power early, and then his opponents make a choice. Either get embarrassed, or turn into a counterpuncher.

And Floyd gets called boring because of this.

I am a Floyd fan all the way but this fight was a little too easy.
There are just not many people in Floyd's weight area that can give him real competition.
I will say that I give Floyd a little credit for taking this fight because so many fans wanted to see it.
How many people on here and other forums said Floyd would duck Alvarez?
I am disappointed in Floyd about the catchweight, he could have done the same at 154 and not given the haters an excuse to dismis the win.
Either way the outcome was at it should be and I give the win a B- but still one of the best fights he could make this month!

hmmm, I don't think that people are jumping down your throat for stating your opinion, a much as giving you a hard time for labeling people "*****s" simply because they disagree with your point of view. I think Floyd put on a good showing. Alvarez came to win and was immediately put in his place. Alvarez is a dangerous opponent, and floyd made him look pretty silly. I think that this is pretty respectable. whether or not you feel it is or not, or whether it was entertaining or not is simply a matter of opinion. "good" in boxing is completely subjective.

 

It's a decent win but does nothing to dramatically affect Floyd's stock. Canelo only had one real quality win beforehand which was his win against Trout(in a fight that could have gone either way). And everyone who saw him struggle against boxer-types in Trout and Gomez knew what was coming when a weight-drained version was going to be facing the best boxer in Floyd. The biggest take from the fight is just the overall sales.

Indeed^. And I tend to agree with RGs initial post. Floyd is very, very, good. TBH I've never been all that taken with 'Nelo. Solid guy, decent skills, but honestly was never on FMJs level or even close.

His only real hope, if you can call it that, was to come out as hard as he could in the early rounds, even with the probability of gassing later (when he would have no hope anyway).

Look, it ain't detracting from Floyd in any way, but a lot of people are giving him a lot of credit for a fight which he was always gonna win anyway. Still, as was pointed out above, it's gloating, it happens when any fighter's got a vocal fanbase. Just gotta get used to it.
