Will need to change trainers at some point, he's an intelligent fighter and will continue to learn under different tutelage and renewed belief. I thought he won Saturday and with that experience under his belt he really should be a world champion one day, hope so.

Wanted Ryder to win but honestly have no real complaints about how it was scored very tight could of gone the other way.

He can take a lot from it showed he could last the pace (1st 12 round fight) & the fact he put the pressure on BJS finishing strongly 11th & 12th backs it up.

Think he was keeping something in the tank for the latter rounds he will now know he has the conditioning to put it on the opponent earlier will come back stronger for it.

In all honesty i think that BJS under performed and would walk the rematch. Ryder should look for alternative opposition.

I thought Ryder edged it, very close though.

Would fancy Ryder with a touch more experience to win rematch.

I had it 116-114 Billy Joe, but there were a few rounds which could have gone either way.

I like BJS, but he'll struggle with his lack of pop as he moves up judging by the last few performances.

I'm also a bit worried about why they're talking about a move to SMW. To me, like Frankie Gavin, he looks like he's already a weight class above where he should be as it is. It's no coincidence that neither are famous for their dedication and clean lifestyles either.

had it 2 rounds for Ryder he should go after a rematch. it makes perfect sense since BJS wants to win the British outright so may as well make another defence against Ryder.

no complaints though it was a close fight.

BJS talented no doubt but hasn't IMO the power to trouble the top MWGHTS a move to 168lbs would compound that lack of pop even more.

Don't know if anyone saw his interview on boxnation admitted to blowing up to 14st at times between fights & claims the highest he was at before the Ryder fight was 12st 9lbs.

I also can't fault the decision...agree completely with the rest your post. BJS looked sharper and fitter in the Spike O'Sullivan fight.
Lack of dedication and lack of pop will be his downfall. But no denying that in full flow he is a beautiful boxer.
Can't see Ryder going very far...not all that great for me? Nick Blackwell a better prospect for me, if only Nicks career was better managed, better matches etc

Ryder v Blackwell would be an interesting fight.

Blackwell has been tested hard in the fights where he has actually stepped up. Didn't he fight Murray in his 9th fight just before Murray fought Sturm?

Is Blackwell's brother a journeyman around the same weight aswell?

Indeed he did fight Murray in his ninth fight Clint.
I have a huge issue with the way things have gone for Blackwell.
He fights 8 nobodies.....then Martin Murray. Loss number 1
Then 4 more nobodies......then BJS. Loss number 2
Then 1 nobody ......then Max Bursak. Loss number 3

How in gods name was he supposed to be prepared for any of the Big Three that he has been thrown in against?
It is an amazing tribute to the guy that he did as well as he did in those losing efforts. Who knows, on a level playing field he could have beat all three!

Himself and his management team obviously don't have the connections or clout or whatever, to get him a proper sequence of learning fights, career building progression fights.
So, presumably acting in desperation, not blaming anyone or anything, but they are taking hopeless fights for Nick.
    It's a terrible shame.
