Prime Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Prime Roy Jones Jr More Unbeatable

Debatable. Montell Griffin was giving him plenty of problems in their first fight.

 

I guess that makes Clinton Mitchell special considering he beat a green Hopkins as well. Roy ducked the rematch with Hopkins for years, only wanting to face him when he was over the hill for a payday.

 

I am usually the last guy who would ever talk about chins, in fact I think those who rate fighter solely based on how they perceived their chins as idiots. That all said, you can't ignore RJJ Jaw! At one point he may have seem like superman but in hindsight his jaw was his kryptonite . . . the answer has to be floyd. At the time only a fool would say anyone had a chance in RJJ weight range and the same could be said about floyd. yeah, RJJ went up and fought for a Title at HW against a fighter taylor made for him

No HW is tailor made for a 34 year old LHW, who started out at 154, with 50 fights on his resume.

It was the other way around.

Hop wanted 50/50, even though Roy had already beaten him, and he'd have had to have gone down in weight.

It was Hop who waited for Roy to fade.

Telling reporters that the Green stoppage was harsh etc, just before their rematch.

 

This is a tough one because Jones is as awkward as they come, with power, speed and excellent reflexes. His defense was his speed and reflexes. Floyd is speed and reflexes with excellent defense. It would of been one hell of a chess match that's for sure. I would probably lean more towards Jones because he had one punch KO power. If he could catch Floyd on the button, then he might be able to get him out of there, but catching Floyd is not an easy task to do, if a jab is not being used to set it up. The truth of the matter is Jones has as much of a chance as any other fighter who faces Floyd. He has a punchers chance, because Floyd defense is just that good.

It's hard to say because neither guy was beaten in there prime, but if I had to make a choice I would probably say Jones. Floyd looked a bit vulnerable at times.

That was Hopkins' first professional fight while he had 20+ fights under his belt and fighting for a title when he fought Jones. Hardly a fair comparison.

And Jones at 175 was not at his peak.
