WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (22-0-1, 20KOs) brushed off the trash talk of IBF champion Bernard Hopkins. Kovalev is coming off the biggest win of his career, a fourth round TKO of previously undefeated Nathan Cleverly. Kovalev is likely going to make his first defense of the title in November. One possible opponent, althought it remains to be seen if it could be finalized before the end of the year - is WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, if he beats Tavoris Cloud next month.

based on this alone i think we got an early 2014 mega fight coming up, i think 2014 is the year we see a light heavy unified champ...stevenson, bhop, kovalev...question is, will shumenov step up ? would be nice, like a mini tournament for champs.

What the hell happened with Shumenov? He split from Goosen at the worse time. Could've been fighting on Andre Ward undercards and brought up his popularity.

I think Shumenov is fighting on the undercard of Manny/Rios PPV

Really hope Stevenson gets by Cloud so we can see Kovalev/Stevenson. That is one hell of an intriguing fight, and almost guaranteed to end within the distance.

I find the dismissive tendency toward Cloud strange. Indicative of last-fight-fan-syndrome, perhaps? :think

Would rather see a fight against Stevenson anyways.

    Kovalev by KO.

No Ice caps in the summer by the year 2013, remember that from an Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore? What actually happened was an all time record expansion of the ice caps, 920,000 square miles since August 2012.

Parts of California covered in snow, first day of fall 2013, 9-23-13. Obviously more evidence of global warming, snow in September in California.

"Increased frequency and intensity of Hurricanes." Alright, Zero Hurricanes have hit the United States this year.

Well, BHop gets respect but I'm sure that most people would rather see Kovalev/Stevenson.

Not really fair for Stevenson if he beats Cloud in October to have to fight Kovalev in November.

The best fighter in the division has to be considered BHop. It should go without saying. Kovalev should be going after the n.1 guy, not a guy with one good win on his resume.

Is Kovalev afraid he might go to school?

That won't happen, It is all talk. Kovalev will have to fight a bum or wait till next year.
