Peter Fury has confirmed that Tyson will be taking a tune up/ keep active fight before Haye.

    Good idea?

Who do you see as the likely opponent if he does?

    I'm going with Fres Oquendo.

Definitely a good idea, and ASAP.

Fres Oquendo, Maurice Harris ... someone like that ... an old, cagey veteran, not too risky but should provide a few rounds.

Can only help Tyson Fury, who I believe is in the shape of his life.

It is a tune up in every sense of the word so I wouldn't really moan with any opponent. It won't change my opinion on Fury or the fight though, unless of course he blasted some credible opponent out which won't happen.

Ian Lewison just sparked Dallas so that wouldn't be the worlds worst tune up.

absolutely stupid idea, Tyson has somehow managed to make himself a name in boxing, he needs to capitalize on it and get that 5 million quid. That is all that matters and will give him a life after boxing. Taking an interim bout, given the fact in his last bout he was almost finished off by a light fisted guy from the division below, is a massive risk

its a difficult one, i get the idea that its good to keep active but with fury you never know if he ends up in a war

Yes, but you're assuming Haye will knock him out and send him into retirement or boxing obscurity with £5 million.

Fortunately Team Fury don't see it that way, and will do the best for Tyson Fury to develop him as a professional fighter.
It would be stupid to let him stagnate.

Any chance it can be an actual heavyweight?

Well yes but unless someone is a really big Tyson fan and thus completely biased everybody knows that is exactly what will happen

He won't get a payday like it again. Even a fight with a Klit wouldn't bring in the same, it would be a fraction. They don't need him, theres guys willing to get in the ring for 200grand who have an equal a profile as fury

I think it's a legitimate fight. I'd make Haye the favourite, but there's no foregone conclusion. Fury is an improving fighter.

The point is, a tune-up will keep Fury improving and keep him sharp.
Of course they should find quite a safe opponent.
But I'm glad the Fury camp are serious about developing him and keeping him active, and are serious and confident in his abilities - boxing should have more of that.
There's absolutely no guarantee that David Haye won't pull out of a re-scheduled fight .... there may never be a £5million payday ...... so Fury needs to do what he needs to do.

I'm glad the Fury camp aren't as cynical as you would like them to be, thinking only of the money and not even believing their guy has a chance.
If that was the case they wouldn't even bother training him.

I imagine those around him in his family believe in him but they are biased. I hope Hennessey is thinking clearly , which he seems to be given his instance on the Haye fight going ahead. I like Fury and given his chin is very suspect he doesn't want to be staying in this game too long, that 5 million quid will mean that no matter what happens in future bouts he is sorted for life
