How hard did Foreman punch?

He punched very hard but sometimes his accuracy was lacking and he telegraphed the punches, which lessened his effectiveness.
When he got it right he was a murderous puncher, perhaps the hardest puncher ever.

 

I've seen them all live and in person from the 70s. He was the hardest puncher by far. Incredible, frightening power.

 

Heavy handed, but rarely scoring one-punch KD's or KO's. More like a very heavy bag with sand than a sledgehammer.

 

"Sledgehammers" is an apt description of Foreman's punches.

He was a murderous puncher and the uppercut he laid on Frazier for the second knockdown in their first fight is one of the hardest punches I've ever seen.

Decent heavyweight power. Overrated a bit because he fought in an era of beanpole and midget heavies.

 

I always thought his power was overrated and looked heavier than they were because of his size. They were strong, clubbing punches. I guess you can say he hits like a sledgehammer, but guys like Shavers hit you like a bolt of lightning. If you look at the reaction of these two fighter opponents was they knock them down, it will tell you all you need to know. He was clearly not the most powerful puncher ever, but he was a big, strong guy. I think Frazier got more torque into his left hook than Foreman got in his punches.

 

A top guy .. plain and simple .. the highest tier of single shot guy ...

Shavers hit hard but was unable to knock world class men cold who were at their best. Other punchers could.

 

I'd bet my life he could have flattened today's bigger guys, too.

 

Probably as hard as it is possible for a human being to do on occasion.

 

No one hit as hard as Foreman....at least since Frazier. he is the only fighter I've ever watched live and in person that instilled fear in me. Truly frightening power. Can't emphasize it enough.....the guy literally hit like a sledgehammer.....brutal power.

Unless you were kidding, that is an incredibly ignorant comment. You clearly know very little about boxing. The fighters in the late 60s early 70s had numerous champions and contenders who would destroy the weak crop of hapless, chinless behemoths who plague the top 20 today.

Foreman's one punch KO of Moorer in his mid 40s, and his relative success at that age proves he would easily dispatch of the garbage in today's heavyweight landscape.
