    Extremely important question presented.

I am sure it demands an entire thread. If you had the time would you be willing to expand this point in a thread so we can discuss it?

    Thank you

Feel free to make the thread.
I can't think how I would expand the point.

My questions are simply (in general terms) :
Is it easier to overrate fighters when we have a lots of written reports and little footage ?
Do any of the fighters who shine in the written reports look anywhere near as great in the limited footage ? And do any look considerably or almost inexplicably lesser men than how they are described in reports ?

Joe Louis was one of the greatest boxers ever to live. Not much he could not do. Greatest combo puncher ever...in any division. One of hwt boxing hardest punchers, beautiful hard left jab, great body punchers...went seamlessly from had to body and mixed up his shots head to body better than anyone. those that have not done their homework downplay Louis defense. In fact he was a textbook perfect boxer. He had all the moves....parry, feint, block and counter to head and body with ko punches. He could actually bob and weave while coming towards moving fighters very well. See his bout with Lee Ramage. All this is why he is generally rated top 2 all time hwt and makes the lists in terms of pfp abilities. We will never see another Joe Louis again...a unique fighter as close to the complete package as any other hwt champion.

Louis was the lucky recipient of several crooked decisions aided by a dishonest referee , gangster management, and a corrupt MSG.

Well that's what Mendoza says anyway.

there is of course truth in that, but Joe Louis was/is an absolute great fighter.

the Sport is a known Racket WHY would anyone doubt these behaviours that has been reported, disputed and fought for & against for 150 years? :hat
