it will be one of these 3

    Sergio
    Marquez
    Canelo

Miguel has always been obsessed with being the first PR to win major belts in 4 weight classes so he will give 160 a try sooner or later

he wasnt good at 154....a win over yuri foreman is probably his only win
he will get his ass kicked at 160....he is too damn short and has midget like reach. he will get ass kickings by anyone with a pulse at 160

Best case senario Cotto beats Rodriguez and Alvarez comes back with a win vs a Molina(IBF Champ) in the interim a Alvarez-Cotto fight is a good fight an would be a quailty win for either fighter. I'm not a big Cotto fan though thought the Trout fight was more competitive for most of the rounds had it 7-5/8-4 Trout, that could simply be a case of what happens to most fighters and that's overlooking opponents after two losses I think Cotto will come back more focus him and Pacquiao are in the same position hopfully Roach doesn't wind up getting one or both of their careers ended this year

I do think Cotto is going to beat Rodriguez and should be a pretty solid favorite there. Rodriguez will make it entertaining but I don't give him a great shot at upsetting Cotto.

I think Cotto faces Martinez after this. I don't think Cotto has much of a chance against Martinez but its a big fight and Cotto would be in a good negotiating place there.

Cotto could end up facing Mayweather come May. I'm not sure who else Mayweather could fight and do bigger numbers against unless a Pacquaio fight happens by some miracle.

Khan and Garcia wouldn't do nearly as well financially as a Cotto rematch would. Alvarez needs another win or two before thinking rematch and Broner is probably being built into a much bigger fight than what it would be now. Cotto has to be an attractive option for Mayweather.

Alvarez is a natural fit for Cotto. It does big numbers and Alvarez's last fight probably makes Cotto think he has a better chance than he did just 2 weeks ago.

A Pacquaio rematch is probably still doable. Pac's stock has fallen and with a rematch most likely being at jr middleweight that would look to help Cotto's chances as well. I don't think it happens but I wouldn't be shocked if it did.

Is it far fetched to say that Rodriguez may be a better fighter than Ishe Smith & Molina?

He doesn't have plenty of options though does he?? GPB and top rank fighters don't fight each other, so realistacally he has 2 options (the winners of the top rank fights)

You're right , I did forget that Cotto is now being trained by Roach. That probably makes a rematch even more of a longshot.

He'd make a lot of money so I guess no one could blame Cotto if he dropped Roach after one fight for a Pacquaio rematch.

people wandering why cotto takes fights like this and the one vs trout.

cuz cotto dont back down from nowone. he may lose sum but he dont back down an thats why i respect cotto more then others. an he will make d rod look like easy work and will knockout him out late in fight or easy UD

an even if cotto smashes d rod i dont think cotto/canelo should or will happen, if cotto wins i want him to win another solid fight

an even with canelo i need him to win 1 or 2 more fights ..canelos next fight should be ishe smith or angulo IMO solid fighters coming of a loss just like canelo

Not at all. I think he's superior to both of them in several categories and, more importantly, I think he'd beat them both...assuming the judges are competent.

I agree with everything you've posted...except that I really believe that it would be in Cotto's best interests to pick up a strap against Molina first, then decide where to go after that.

I agree with everything but the Money rematch. I dont think Floyd is giving anyone a rematch at this point in his career.
