RJJ schooled Bernard Hopkins and James Toney. End of the conversation. Those 2 wins are bigger than Mayweather's resume.

When Roy spoke to Holy, late in 2001, Ruiz was the WBA champ, and Lewis had the WBC and the IBF, that he'd just won back from Hasim Rahman in their rematch in November 01. Roy then remained at LHW to weigh up his options, and Lewis went on to fight Tyson the following year.

When Roy signed to fight Ruiz, late in 2002, Chris Byrd had got the IBF, Lewis had got the WBC, and Ruiz still held the WBA.

For the hundredth time, before Lewis had fought Vitali, he was talking about having two or three more fights, and he was very interested in a mega money fight with Roy. But after he'd struggled with Vitali, he never fought again, announcing his retirement early in 2004.

When he retired, he gave a statement saying that he no longer had the hunger, and he'd lost motivation.

You've had links that prove this, and there's numerous links to clarify that Roy had spoken to Lennox, and Murad had spoken to Lennox's team, with regards to a potential fight.

We also know that Roy met Tyson in Miami in 2003, to discuss a fight. But there were various stumbling blocks that prevented it from taking place.

If you want to ignore those links from two months ago, then that's on you.

Lewis thought that Roy would be easy work for huge money pre Vitali, and then post Vitali, he had no hunger left.

Those are facts, and not just opinions.

Punch resistance worsens as fighters age.
People have feelings regarding Jones. He was a great fighter who made history and was unstoppable at his peak. He fought the biggest fights and there isn't a Pacquiao type blank in his record unless you count DM ducking him as a massive thing--it wasn't ultimately.

Floyd was incredible and has done some amazing things, we're comparing two great fighters and I think Jones peaked at a higher level and did more in a more exciting fashion.

Jones and mayweather are both two of the finest athletes in boxing history

But jones is on another level

Floyd stands up against anyone else in history though

If floyd had fought and beat Paul Williams
Dlh and Mosley in 2004 2005
    And pacquiao in 2009

I would rate him number two greatest of all time

Way ahead of those 80s era overrated bums

What annoys me about floyd is....

Potentially he could have beaten anyone in his era

Except paul Williams on a good night
Paul Williams on a good night is unbeatable below 154

    Floyd didn't test himself,

    Leonard
    Haggler
    Duran
    Hearns

Toney would destroy any of them

Roy would ko them all, except maybe haggler who he would ud

Even floyd would probably beat Leonard and Duran
    Too small for haggler
And would lose to china chin hearns because he doesn't have power

That's why Quintana schooled him at 147 huh? PW was good but not special. He had flaws that Floyd would've exploited big time. But I agree that he could've probably beaten anyone he faced but it just didn't turn out that way.

There's no way that those 80's fighters are overrated. They were all fantastic fighters, who looked to face the best of their era.

I agree that Roy at his best would have beaten them, but they were all in their prime at lower weights, so it's not really fair to try and use that against them.

Ray was at his peak at 147, and was exceptional.

Roberto Duran's absolute peak was at 135.

    Hagler was a 160 fighter.

    Hearns's peak was 147-154.

Roy beating them at 160-168 means nothing, and doesn't take away how special they were.

Floyd as great as he is, has never beaten an ATG while they were peak, and we know that he swerved Manny, and would only fight Canelo at a catchweight.

If Floyd had have been in their era, would he have fought a peak Duran, if he'd have had the opportunity? I don't think he would have. I think Duran would have intimidated him.

Would he have fought a peak Ray Leonard? Again, I don't think he would have done. But if he had've done, I don't see how he'd have beaten Ray.

Hagler, like you say, was too big.

I don't think Floyd would have gotten in the ring against a peak version of Hearns, over 15 rounds, for $100m! There's no way Floyd would took the fight.

Those guys were cut from a different cloth.

So I don't see how you could rate Floyd above Ray Leonard, even if he'd have beaten Pac, Williams, and earlier versions of Oscar and Shane.

It still wouldn't have been enough to eclipse Ray's resume, in my honest opinion.

Ray fought peak versions of Benitez, Hearns, a near peak Duran, Kalule, and Hagler after a three and a half year lay off, at 160 with no tune up.

Floyd couldn't have competed against that.

So I don't see how you could have Floyd ahead of Ray, either on resume, or a H2H basis.

Ray was a better fighter, that had a bigger heart, and a will that Floyd just doesn't possess.

So if you think Ray is overrated, then Floyd is grossly overrated.

    That's where I disagree,

Floyd on ability alone is in that same bracket.
