Laughable that HBO wanted Cloud vs Stevenson, instead of Stevenson vs Hopkins

Hopkins is with Showtime now. They probably wanted Stevenson to gain some more cred before they feed him to Ward.

TBH though, this win tonight wasn't a sure bet

 

Ward has bigger fish to fry, namely Chavez Jr who clearly and decisively won tonight's fight against a far tougher opponent than Stevenson faced by landing the harder shots and by knowing exactly what Vera was doing every step of the way thanks to his experience and wealth of ring smarts. Just ask Ward, he'll unbiasedly verify all of this :hey

 

well, HBO seems intent on making spectacular blunders to keep themselves on the map ever since Floyd left for Showtime

the good news is that tonight the fight showed that Stevenson's KO of Dawson wasn't a one time thing, and he is now a serious force in the division

 

I think his power is there but nowhere near the hype. He hit Cloud several times flush and couldn't put him down.

He is a force though, and it is good see better fighters rising up at 175.

Hopkins refused to fight Kovalev, so Kovalev went to Cleverly's home town and won the WBO title!!!

 

The closer to one champ the better..Looks like Steven will fight the winner of the Bute -Pascal fight ..

Hopkins needs to be ringside for that so the focus remains on him eventually the fight with Stevenson gets done .
