First completely dominated by an old fossil like Hopkins. Now, I do respect Hopkins and think he is still a class fighter on account of his awkward style... but no way should he be dominating any decent opponent like he did Cloud. Now, utterly destroyed by Stevenson and quit like a *****. He should just retire.
he was also outboxed by Campillo (despite getting 2 KD's in his favour), who was later KO'd by Kovalev and Fonfara
He's a contender level fighter who chanced in to a belt by fortuitous circumstances. I don't mean that as an insult because it's still extremely hard to get that far in the grand scheme of boxing. His team would've been wise to defend the hell out of that thing against a ton of C-rate LHW's to at least let him make some money off of having that belt. I think he was really mishandled, personally. Cloud's a classic case of a champ that needed to fight 3 times a year and would've been better for it, but was too inactive.
clouds just a gate keeper, been saying it all along.. funny thing is...before the fight last night, ppl were sayign how cloud is a beast, how if adonis can stop him it would be a huge feat cuz cloud has never been stopped... stevenson completely schools cloud, to make him quit in the 7th...and now everyone is saying how cloud is a bum. a ko is huge, a tko is pretty big too...but when you school a fighter bad enough to make him quit on his own, now that is some damn good beating. this fight turned out perfectly how i had predicted it...cloud never had a chance, unless he got lucky and conected with the perfectly timed shot....but if you know cloud, you know when he feels like he gonna loose, he dont put in any effort
i believe the official ending to the fight is corner stoppage...but cloud told his corner he had enough, he couldnt take the beating anymore, so the corner stopped it because cloud asked them to
trainer stopped the fight... Cloud needs to go back to Florida and rebuild himself.... Start by not fighting once a year... Hes a good pressure fighter at his best... I seen him look better than his... Leaving Don King might help him too...
really? from what i seen cloud went back to his corner and shook his head when he was asked how he was doing, this tells me cloud didnt want no more...so the trainer stopped it...but to me this is the same as cloud quitting i mean no where near the same as tyson/golotta, where the trainer kept pushing him and the fighter said **** that...but when cloud seen both eyes were cut he kept rubbing them and checking his gloves for blood, and also to see better..i still say cloud pretty much let his trainer know he didnt want to continue... imo don george vs tavoris cloud would be a much better match up for cloud...solid guy who can bang too, and not afraid to go to war.
