I believe that Lennox Lewis did himself a great favor when going out on top. It may be that Lewis would have made much more money by continuing with his boxing career, but it is better to quit a little early than when it is too late in the sport of boxing.

No. It was before.

And Lennox did fight Vitali, Southpaw...

 

He went out on top, there was no around who would have beat him. Vitali is probably the best not head to head but best heavyweight since lewis left. I doubt wlad would be able to take those type of punches without getting knocked out. Frankly it was vitali constant backwards movement that allowed him to last so long against lennox because it made it harder to land clean and with full force. If Wlad got into a mimi slug match he'd just get ko'ed

 

It was the right decision. He gets to walk around near 50 with clear speech and a lot of money.

 

Obviously Lennox did not.
