Basically, yeah.^ GGG should be able to get to 154 without too much problem. He fights lighter than 'Nelo or Trout for instance, at about 168-170 walks even lighter ('bout 167). Floyd ain't 'scared' - he's a pro boxer. However, his stock would take a hit if he lost (which is a least a decent possibility) and SHO wouldn't want that any more than him. The fight ain't gonna happen. Never was. It all seems to have come from GGG being asked what his 'dream fight' would be - and answering (to paraphrase) 'Mayweather because I want to fight the best'. He wasn't calling Floyd out or anything, just answering the question literally. A whole load of BS over nothing much, essentially. PS: The whole 'good boy' thing is a literal translation of a Russian term 'Maladetz' - used widely in Russian boxing commentary to mean something like 'tough kid' or 'game lad'. Obviously, Gennady has now been informed of the slightly different connotations of the term in english - shame really..
If you're pointing to a fighter 2 divisions above Floyd just for a chance to beat him, I've got bad news for you.
if 3G grabs the WBC belt and the MW ring Magazine title, then there could be some chances to see this fight happening. Floyd is not a small fighter anymore, he added some muscle mass on his body. When he fought Alvarez the difference in size wasn't so big between them. If Floyd will ever fight a MW fighter that will be Martinez cuz he has a higher profile than 3G & he possesses the green belt and the Ring title and it would be a sellable fight especially if the fight will be above 154 pounds category. Martinez definetly deserves a good payday. The only real problem that I see its the rivality between HBO/TR and SHO/GBP. p.s I read once, Sr or Roger saying that Floyd will end his career fighting @ MW or something like that. Anybody know something about this thing ?? :think
Well, as has been pointed out - it ain't happening. But 1) Some people (myself included) wanna see it 'cos it'd be a good fight, not 'just for a chance to beat' Floyd. 2) Floyd is the Champ at 154. If this were to take place it'd be at 154.
If GG is a middleweight he should stop fighting jr middles....simple. He said he'd fight at 168....that still hasn't happened.
GGG, you need to get lost and stop calling out guys smaller than you. Pick on someone your own size, theres plenty of mw and smws you can fight
the guys his size and bigger are suppossed to be afraid of him....only the smaller guys have the balls to face him. Funny how that works.
Like who? drop names just not to sound stupid please. Those who - don't duck him (duckers Barker/Geale/Sturm/Quillin) - not tied to showtime (Quillin Is tied) - would be approved by HBO (N'dam, Soliman were reportedly rejected) - can fall into dates approved by HBO, I.e. don't have anything scheduled - don't have any logistical issues (Murray - visa) In case you come up with some names, you shall be hired as a consultant to K2
He's never called out Mayweather - that is a fiction. This whole thread is about a video clip of him saying the fight is impossible. He was asked what his 'dream fight' would be (in fact several times even, in old interviews) and said it was Mayweather, because it's his dream to fight the best. Saying 'this is my dream fight' is NOT calling someone out. There's an interview of Sanchez being asked the same thing early this year (as I recall) who says that his (Sanchez) ideal fight would be Chavez Jr, but Golovkin dreams of fighting Floyd. I repeat he has never called him out. Some ( a very few) GGG fans have touted the idea, but to most it's apparent that clearing out 160 then moving to 168 would be the ideal career progression.
So GGG is disgracefully ducking Mayweather?!?!? What a f*cking p*ssy. He claims that nobody will fight him then pulls this blatant duck. These kind of petrified duck tactics must be why he's a 31 year old decorated amateur with a dogsh*t resume and paper title.
you are joking right? what do you want him to do give up 6lbs.. be weight drained then fight the best fighter on the planet? What a great decision.
