Love Bruno, grew up on his fights but Damiani brought a lot to the table, a lot more than Ray mercer mercilessly let the world think. Damiani, just on the Tyrell Biggs win would have given any heavyweight champion a run for his money.

If Damiani gets past round 6 without injury he wins. A live underdog.

I do not see Damiani getting through the first six rounds with The Bomber, a horrible matchup for the Italian.

    Bruno in 5.

Did you see Damiani v Biggs? Tyrell looked as good there as he was against Tyson. It was no tank job.

in fairness , i think, a good case could be made either way.

i remember itv showing damiani fights in late 80's....i remember the klitshko-style white canvas ring......they also showed fights from the likes of khasio galaxy and orlando canizales....i became a big fan of them fellas......so maybe nostalgia clouds my judgement on this a bit

I got to disagree, Biggs was signing the performances in before Tyson! Afterwards, it clearly was all about the $s. That said, going into Damiani/Biggs I figured naively that Biggs was favourite, so was initially impressed the Italian won. But as time went by, Damiani showed his limits, blowing the Mercer fight and putting in the shocker with McCall.

Yeah, that carried on through to mid 90s if I remember correctly. Holdsworth on commentary giving out his home address so you could send answers for his competitions!

Bruno in 4 rounds, too much for Damiani.

Good matchup. Two superunderrated hvyts. I'm saying pick-em. If I had to choose, probably Bruno. He trained harder.

Francesco Damiani was a good fighter. He had power, good boxing skills, and slightly better than average defense. Problem for me though is that he didn't have the durability required to survive a world class hitter with the ability to land on him. Ray Mercer was losing every round until he landed that left upper cut that broke Damiani's nose. Against a tall rangy puncher with a good jab and right cross he'd get hurt at some point. Bruno by stoppage somewhere between rounds 5-7

Damiani at his best was just better. He should outbox Bruno.

Yeah, but could the big canneloni take that stray Bruno shot to the head or to the schnozzola? I've never seen a guy fold as easy as Damiani did vs Mercer's shot to the nose....Damiani had a glass nose.
