no, Joe would have moved up. though Jones at one point did say that he would be willing to move down for the fight, so Wa55en made an offer. Jones retracted what he said and that was the end of those certain negotiations.

how was $5 million a smaller purse?

And who told you that? Franky boy himself? Did you read it in the tabloid coloring in book The Sun? Must be true:lol: Just like when he offered Carl Froch a career high pay day to fight Cleverly, he has the emails, the emails!!!:rofl:rofl

Where'd this 5 mil offer come from? Never heard about this before.

Also, the Hopkins things was 3 package deal that Hopkins declined, of which Calzaghe was to be #2. It wasn't that he turned down Calzaghe, he turned down the whole thing. Isn't this true?

when did anyone claim that Floyd should have come to the UK when Ricky was defending his WBU title? you've only been here since 2012 you idiot.

i've been here much longer, but i didn't see a single poster say anything of the sort.

the fight should have taken place at 140 when it happened though. Floyd was definitely able to do so, but wanted all the advantages when he saw how tough 147 was for Ricky.

I didn't say anyone HAD claimed Floyd should come to the UK, I said it was LIKE people claiming Floyd should come to the UK, i.e - idiotic. just like your stance on Jones fighting Calzaghe.

that's what Wa55en said he was offering. when Jones said he wanted double that, he just wasn't going to be able to make that work. Joe would still need to be paid outside of that as well.

that is true, but Showtime were willing to do a stand alone fight instead. Hopkins wouldn't budge because he wanted double that. the numbers just didn't make sense so they left it.

Roy beats anyone in his weight class ever

From 154-175 no one in history is on Roy's level

Just to fast and hits too hard

    And accurate

His straight right is like mayweathers, but unlike floyd... Roy can actually hit hard

my bad. i'm doing work as well as posting so i'm not concentrating as much as i should.

and no, it's not like that at all. Calzaghe was far more proven than Ricky was when defending the WBU. far more proven.

well if Roy was asking for double on what Wa55en was offering ($10 million) then that confirms that it WAS the $5 million he said.
he also talked about it with Adam smith on Ringside.

During his prime floyd lost to Castillo
And nearly beat him in a rematch

During his prime ali lost to frasier

    Tyson lost to Douglas

    Leonard lost to Duran

    PAC lost. To morales

Roy stands alone, during his prime he didnt lose rounds, forget about fights

What time period was this? Where was the fight going to take place? What weight? Did Joe agree to a small purse, contradicting his crown jewel statement?

I hope you know that getting a fight signed can be a long complicated process, and as far as I know, Jones -Calzaghe never got that serious.

If this was around the time period Jones was thinking about HW, then It is obvious why Roy wanted the big money for a fight at HW, than fighting Joe for what he made fighting Clinton Woods.

I was a casual fight fan in 02, and I can tell you that Calzaghe was known over here no more than Clinton Woods at that time, some of my friends that are casual PPV buyers, still don't know who he is. Prime Jones-Calzaghe was not going to be the mega fight it should have been for fighters of that caliber.

What you call bull**** is a direct quote from joe calzaghes mouth.

By trying to blindly defend Joe Calzaghe, you are destroying his legacy. good one there, achieving the opposite of your intention. Tyson Fury couldn't punch himself harder than you are doing to yourself.
