joe doesnt fight when the other guy has the advantages, he fights when the other guy is weakest. So hes never going to fight when hes the old one.
The bum wouldn't step out of the British Isles for most of his career. When he did, he added just notable names as Jones and Hops to his resume, even though Victor Ortiz could have probably taken Jones out at that time. Personally I think Hops won that fight.
Well he tried but Jones (by own admission didnt want it) and Hopkins turned the fight down too :thumbsup
No fighter can be accused of ducking someone who fights at a weight they cannot make. It was impossible for Joe to make middleweight and fight Hopkins. However we all know that Hopkins agreed to move up to fight Calzaghe and then backed out. American TV wanted the fight. It was revealed in Hopkins' court case with Lou Di Bella that Showtime offered Bernard the fight.
Manny Steward of all people said, Joe might be one of the greatest of all time. :good And then clowns mayweather in the Baldomir fight, saying, that Leonard and Hearns would of ko Baldo instead of running around potshoting. Manny knows more about boxing then you EVER WILL!
I cant see how zaghes beats someone with elite skill AND stamina. He used his stamina and chin to edge out less fit elites when he couldn't outbox them (reid, (close to elite but not the full job), Kessler, old Hopkins)
Calzaghe would only do slightly better than Kessler, if at all. Imagine the first 4 rounds of the Hopkins fight, only against a guy throwing and landing about 40% more, with much quicker feet, quicker hands, more variety and doing it for the full 12. Calzaghe might win a couple of late rounds if Ward takes his foot of the gas but that would be about it.
