Post a Fight that You pick your Favorite figher to Lose

I would say that Joe Louis vs. Muhhamad Ali.

I much as I would like to thing that Louis would be able to weather Ali's speed and counter him with his own speed, I really see Ali being able to dance circles around Joe, maybe AlI might get caught and stunned but, I see him getting out in enough time to win a pretty clear points win. Maybe even by KO. I find it hard to consistanly pick Louis of Ali. I do not think he adapts well enough to put Ali in position consistanly enough to do real damage. He could do it, but I cannot really see it.

That pained. Anybody else?

 

My favourite's Erik Morales and MAB would succumb to Johnny Famechon, jose Legra, Howard Winstone and Ernesto Marcel.

Not cut out for beating the better technical pure-boxing cutie types of the feathers.

 

I always thought pre-Pacquiao Barrera was a beautiful boxer. He had a fantastic jab, nice right, great array of body work, and of course a sweet left hook. Nice choices. I will have to take a look at those fighters.

 

He was an excellent offensive fighter,not an excellent pure boxer imo.His outfighting skills were quite basic if he wasn't allowed or able to dictate the exchanges with his top-notch combo's and punch variety.Add in slow feet and him fancying himself as a cutie after the Hamed schooling and it's a bad style for him to go up against.

Tough question for me, I have a lot of favorite fighters that would have lost to a lot of guys. I like the underdogs too much, lol.

To upset ESBs applecart, I would take the Joe Louis of the Max Baer fight over Clay/Ali
anytime...Ali NEVER fought anyone close to the lethal and swift combinations of the prime Joe Louis...I am convinced of the outcome...If Ali had the quiet personality of an Ezzard Charles, devoid of histrionics, he would not be considered the world beater some on ESB hold him to...Just my considered opinion...

Talk is one thing...beating Joe Frazier, Foreman, Liston, Norton, Shavers, etc is a completely different thing. I rank Ezzard Charles third on my p4p under Greb and Robbie because he was constantly kicking behind more that others, not because he was talking or not.

With that said. I am I happy to see your analysis of Louis-Clay/Ali even if that is not the context of the question.

I favor '68 Napoles over Duran, and Larry Holmes over Ali. Those aren't controversial though...

I think Chris Byrd would beat Joe Louis, in a one off.

He certainly wasn't a crude slugger devoid of skill in the early days, and was effective and fun to watch...but his jab and right hand were mostly just tossed as distractions and he was primarily a one-trick pony with the left hook and he did have a tendency of barging in and giving no angles. From the mid to late 90's he underwent an incredible transformation.

 

Post Junior, yeah.

I love how you broke down his style tranformation. A flaw that I noticed is that he did tend to keep his chin up when he jabbed. I thought he had a great style anyway. He was a beautiful watch during that time period. I thought he was going to take Pac apart. Boy, was I stunned.
