    Round 1

Verdejo is jabbing Eyer in the head, dropping 1-2s to the body and quickly dashing in with left hooks on the cheek of Eyer while Eyer is preparing a jab. Verdejo is blasting Eyer with jabs and 1-2s from outside and ducking under Eyer's shots. Exchange at the bell, Verdejo landing sharper and with the faster, harder shots.

    10-9 Verdejo

Larry Merchant is worse than Colonel Bob's usual cohorts. Just let Sheridan call the action himself. Why am I still enduring the half-baked musings of this blowhard? :-(

    Round 2

Verdejo is leading with right hands and following with left hooks. Eyer is jabbing out from a high guard, turning sideways but unable to avoid the power shots of Verdejo darting in rapidly from outside. 1-2-3 by Verdejo, breaking Eyer's nose. It is spouting blood all over his torso and turning the white portions of his gloves and Verdejo's pink. Verdejo rips him with hooks and rights. The ref pauses to examine Eyer's nose and determine whether he can breathe. They bring in the ringside physician. He is given clearance to continue. Eyer actually wants to. Gutsy dude. BIG RIGHT HAND BY VERDEJO, EQUILIBRIUM ROBBER. Eyer is wobbling all over, but doesn't fall. More combos by Verdejo. Waved off.

    TKO2!

I'd take Merchant - hell, I'd take just about anybody - over that unqualified twerp Kellerman. HBO really needs to do something about THAT problem!

That's what happens in boxing today. They start the hype train going as early as possible.
