Obviously it was his first fight and he won in the first round so to make big assumptions is unrealistic, but from what you saw, what do you think? Honestly, I liked what I saw, a good accurate jab and good footwork struck out for me. However he didn't really use any lateral movement whatsoever, and I don't know how much to look into that. Also his power didn't seem as explosive as it had been hyped up to be. Still looking forward to seeing more of his career.
Ready for Klits already after that performance. (Honestly, Joshua isn't worth talking about yet, you can't even judge his talent or potential yet vs opponents as bad as Leo was last night, god knows how he won 8 fights but we will learn more about Joshua when he fights better fighters late next year i would guess)
Ive seen top Olympians take on a lot worse first opponents.A bit of intelligent matchmaking,a lot better than the fat Latvian.I disagree that he's not worth talking about,he's a gold medallist.I just hope they keep him active like they say.A fight every 6 weeks wouldn't hurt.Dont think he can fail to be a British and European champion, anything else is in the lap of the gods.
He isn't a gold Medalist if you score fights fairly, lost 2 fights at London 2012. That Leo fella could barley move and could barely throw a punch properly. As Joshua himself said the fight proves nothing and he is just happy to get his Pro Debut out of the way. It was clever match making by Hearn, "wow his opponent is 8-0, he must be decent" but in reality this Leo fella was worse than some HW's who have massive losing records. Genius scouting by whoever picked this guy. I tip my hat.
Done his job yes! But didn't think he looked that great. Got caught a couple of times which was worrying with the standard of opponent.
Impossible to judge to be honest, he looked like he was there to be hit, I could see him struggling against technicians. Having said that by the time he reaches the top he won't have to worry about the Klitsckho's as they will be retired so he has as good a chance as any other prospect.
Shenmue. So we agree on it being intelligent matchmaking. But I disagree with you on the Olympics,at least in part.I DO agree that he should have been put out in his first fight, but don't go with the general opinion that Savon outclassed him.I think he beat Camarelle, who stopped David Price a few years previously.Just look how David was{wrongly}touted as a surefire world champion.I think he could be a European champion though, and still do good things. But Im even more optimistic about Joshua.Bit younger, bit better.
I hope he does well, i truly do as the HW division needs exciting fighters and i believe what ever happens Joshua will bring excitement. I just don't get to invested in these guy's early careers as the opposition is usually so bad its hard to gauge how they would do vs Top fighters. Some times the fans get too involved and fall for the Hype when guys are KO'ing over matched foes. Look at Audley and Price fighting bum after bum after bum, they stepped up (Price stepped up in World class, while Audley stepped up in Domestic class) but they both lost in fights where the general public thought they would win easily because of beating over matched fighters .
ones things for sure fast car wont ruin Johsua like Maloney did with Price. careful match making is essential here as theres a real lack of quality appoents for Joshua at domestic level.
Far too early to tell, much more athletic than the very wooden Bruno, seems quite intelligent and down to earth, which in concert with being a tremendous physical specimen bodes well......But at this stage also means very little?:good
His legs stiffened up after a cuffing overhand shot. We look like we have another David Price to be fair.
Done his job against a guy that had been bought over to just pretty much lay down did people seriously think he would put in with anything other than a guy here to just get finished quickly!! Will be matched very carefully. His biggest result whatever he does or doesn't do as a pro was the Olympics being in London right place, right time.No doubt anywhere else in the world would of gone out 1st round in the Olympics not his fault good luck to him.
Ok this is radical I know but to be honest both Klits will be gone in 2-3 years at most and unless we get a Tyson type figure emerge from somewhere I see absolutely no reason why this kid does not win a version of the world title. I am not going so far as to say he will be in there class but he is very very fast for a heavyweight, he can clearly bang as we know from the amateurs and after six years in the game i think he can only get better and better. I think already now he can beat anyone from 20-30 in the world without much problem, five or six fights and I think he has no problem in the top 15-20, the beauty is there is no rush at all, the decent fighters are getting older and believe me this kid could be absolutely anything. We always seem to have a downer, because some disagreed with the Olympic verdict we like to slate the lad, heaven only knows why, it was a close fight and could have gone either way with the amateur judges being what they are. 10 fights and he is ready for anything in Europe, people tell me Pulev is the best we have apart from the Klitschko's, are you really sure, the guy is average at best, he does not go half a dozen rounds with this lad. I know what many are thinking and I accept the fact he may have no chin but I have seen nothing to suggest a problem in the amateurs and we have seen what no chin can achieve, 11 knockdowns and 3 defeats = Wlad, so not a definete problem there. I enjoyed the Lennox Journey and was there for both his draw and win against Holyfield, I may even come out of retirement to follow this kid as I honestly think he is going all the way and I quite fancy another Vegas trip.
