Wow. Never have seen that particular training footage before. Wonder how many more gems like that are sitting in someone's attic?

Saw those clips a few weeks ago. My, for a devastating punching heavyweight, Dempsey's quickness is a revelation...I would guess this was filmed about 1921
or 1922, before he went to live the life of La dolce Vita in 1923...

Training footage is definitely before he got his nose fixed, which was sometime in 1924.

Timmers, he sure did move like a cat, especially for a heavyweight which he was from the waist up...Some old time boxing trainer described Dempsey as having "fast twitching muscles ". He loved the big boys to fight. The bigger the better, whereas Tyson allowed a lot of bigger slower men to go the distance...I have never seen a heavyweight combine such
foot and hand speed with such power...I have always felt that the young
Roberto Duran as a lightweight had the same panther like attack like the prime Dempsey, snarl and all...Two guys you wouldn't want to tangle with
    in a bar fight....

Nice stuff, the training footage is a little bit deceiving since it is sped up. Very hard to say how fast he really moves.

    That's him after a nose job ?

Yeah, I've seen much much worse, but I don't think he'd quite achieved the classic Hollywood look there with that nose.
