Did no favours to his 'legacy' ,grab grab jab jab, should have finished him off,he knows his chin is glass and protected it the whole fight, boring. Ref was terrible too, he threw pov over a few times and ref gave the count, mmmm.
Can't really be considered a stupid question when opinions on both sides are being expressed. If it were a stupid question, people would either be unified in their opinion, or they simply wouldn't answer the question. Another way to phrase the question is: does it matter how your win, or only that you win, when defining a fighters legacy? And if boxing is in the entertainment business, does this type of win hurt or help the sport?
Why? You think that finding stupid people on ESB validates a question? But, as you say, people want to discuss it so I understand why you ask it.
You must ask yourself in the grand scene of things, what matters most, what benifits Klitschko himeslf or what Klitschko does to benifit the sport of boxing?
It's hard to argue with this. That might be partly the result of your idea of what constitutes a 'good' fight. Wlad has found a style that works for him. He has a scintillating jab and a ferocious short left hook (the two are sometimes hard to distinguish). IMO, he has the best jab in the history of the sport, but I wouldn't argue too much if someone accorded that honour to Liston or Holmes. It was those punches that messed Povetkin up, not the clinching. It was up to Alexander to find a way inside, other than diving in with head down and throwing wild overhands. I found the clinching excessive, but in the absence of warnings from the referee, and given that it was defensively effective for Wlad, why wouldn't he continue to use it ? To those who bang on about a DQ being appropriate after rd 4, don't you think Wlad would have moderated his game had he been warned and/or deducted a point early ? And how do you see that altering the outcome ? As far as I know, Pov made no excuses or complaints regarding the tactics employed. As I've mentioned already, why would he change a winning gameplan ? That's the ref's call. And he could have called five. He called four. So there were four legit KDs. You could look it up. Any time a champion defeats the second best active HW by what's probably the widest margin in HW championship history, scoring four KDs over a previously unbeaten and un-floored contender, it helps his legacy.
if you ever use wlad and ali in the same topic again you should smack yourself then sit the **** down
Good post. and yes, no one could honestly have expected Wlad to change his tactics if the ref wasn't going to challenge him on it. But it would have made for a much more entertaining fight if that had been the case and the ref had warned him much, much earlier about the excessive holding/hugging.
You sound ******ed. I gave you a chance in that other thread, but I'm afraid I will not be responding to your future posts.
it wont hurt at the end of the day. its in the books as a WUD12 over an undefeated belt holder and former gold medalist like many people who look at a lot of mayweathers garbage wins against shot fighters because they look pretty good on paper with their name alone. Gatti, ODLH, JMM ect.
how so? jmm had never fought at 140 jmm had never fought at 147 floyd had been at 147 for 5 years. beating a guy who jumped 2 divisions and had over 50 fights at featherweight for the welterweight title isnt a good win. sorry
Yet when Bob Arum gives numbers days after a fight You call him a liar and say he's exaggerating. Double standards? :nono
marquez was just a big weight cutter at FW mayweather was coming off an injury and a long layoff too. marquez had been weighing in at a welterweigh limit on fight night ever since he was at junior lightweight.
