Wilder turned pro 5 years ago and hasn't really beat anybody worth mentioning. He's 29-0 (29) overall and will most likely stop his next opponent (Nicolai Firtha) who is 21-10-1 (8KO) and has been stopped 4 times (Tyson Fury stopped him in the 5th round). Wilder stopped Owen Beck in the 3rd round (Beck's 11th loss). He stopped Audley Harrison in the 1st round (Harrison's 7th loss). He stopped Siarhei Liakhovich in the 1st round (Liakhovich had lost 4 out of his last 6, 3 by KO). Is he trying to break the most consecutive wins by KO record? Lamar Clark won his first 44 fights by KO then he was stopped in the 9th round by a 12-2-1 fighter named Bartolo Soni. At this rate Wilder could be there in another 2 1/2 years... big freaking deal if he does break that record. He needs to fight somebody.
Looking to cashout, some say 2015, I say it could be next year vs. Wlad while Wlad is waiting for Pulev to fight someone (Pulev's request) before the fight. Not sure Wilder would make it to the Clark mark but would be sort of funny if that's what he's hoping to accomplish.
Wilder is such a joke...Why would he takes this fight? 5 years and 30 fights into his career and he's still can crushing.. Wilders handlers don't want to take a risk because they know their guy has a glass jaw and limited skills!this is why they're putting him in with stiffs and hasbeens. All Wilder has is a right hand, he is stiff as a board and often leaves himself open when he throws his wide lopping shots. he's going to get exposed eventually, maybe even against the handpicked cannon fodder we've become accustomed to seeing him face.. Wilder is NOT the so called "Savior of the HW division" He's a glass jawed/can crushing fraud.
didnt Wilder sign with Hayman as his "adviser" and his next fight is an off tv undercard fight? they are hiding this guy like a bad secret
Well, he's got a bad secret. . . except it's not so secret. Wilder's hiding GLASS in his mandible and his handlers know it. They know - as do any knowledgeable boxing fans - that as soon as Wilder faces a live body, he's getting starched. So they feed him stiff after stiff after stiff, so they crow about how much "power" he has in knocking over these tomato cans. All to build toward the big cash-out when he finally faces somebody with a pulse, and predictably gets knocked the f*** out.:yep
Wilder must have a glass chin and his handlers know it, so they won't put him with anyone who can fight. The hope is to let him knock out bums until he is like 40-0. Then try and land a title fight with probably either klitschko where he can get a 25% or 30% split. He can then probably make 4-6 million dollars in a night, use his physicality to last a few rounds before wlad crushed his glass jaw into a million pieces. Frankly, its not a bad plan. If I got to beat up bums then knocked out by hw champion for 6 million, not a bad rub.
Think Wilder is going to be an even bigger bust than Grant was? I think Grant at least had SOME skills, and at least he beat Golota. Wilder is as crude as they come and only throws a right hand, and plus he might be even more fragile than Grant was. Wilder is going to crumble as soon as somebody(possibly one of the stiffs he steps in with) touch his chin. I'm willing to bet that he has even worse punch resistance than the likes of A-farce, Mitchell and Fields.
Wilder said he learned a lot for Vlad while sparring for the Wach fight. Wach would knock Wilder out. Wilder's best punch would not even blink Wach's eyes..............but instead, Wilder is fighting another wino...........Wilder refused to fight Thompson. He won't fight Jennings either. Vlad mentioned fight Wilder, so I hope that fight happens ASAP. Wilder is ranked #3 by the WBC, LOL! How in the Hell did he arrange that?! Perhaps Vitali should go ahead and knock Stiverne out, then knock Wilder out before he retires...........
In Wlads 29th fight he fought 18-4 Joseph Chingangu who hadn't fought in a year, but won by DQ against an 0-2 fighter. Before that it had been more than a year since he fought and was beat by 16-5 Julius Francis. Rip Wilder all you want but lets quit with the double standards and realize he didn't/doesn't have near the same experience Wlad had at that point. Fighters need to be brought along the right way. If it was ok for an Olympic gold medalist with many more years experience than why is it no good for Wilder who had a late start in the sport? Wlad had more amateur experience alone than Wilder has ad amateur and pro combined? Fighters like Thompson, Wach and Stiverne had all done nothing after being pro's for 5 years and fought nobodies. If you don't have the same level of disdain for every fighter who has taken this route than YES there is hypocrisy! You obviously don't understand how to bring a fighter along.
One way or another Wilder has what it takes to have small chance to knock Vlad out. Small boxers just can't becouse of his jab,jab and grab tactics, but big and fast guys with big power(he has that power for sure, no doubt about it) has a chance to land a punch.
Less than 4 years into his career Wlad had fought 36 times and was WBO world champion... Wilder is nearly 5 years into his career and hasn't done jack ****... He is 29-0 and his best wins are over A-farce and shot to **** Liakhovich. Don't act as if Wlad was moved up as slow and protected as much as Wilder is currently, it's just not true as the facts demonstrate. at this point(5 years into his career Wlad had won a world title and defended it twice and had fought 9 more times than Wilder has...
