Just looking at how much critiscim Wladimir Klitschko is getting for his recent performance and while I feel a lot of it may be deserved it was no less entertaining than Mayweather's last two fights. During one period in the twelth round it seemed as though Mayweather spent over a minute running and staying out of punching range which was ridiculous, fair enough if you are evading punches in the pocket but excessive running is prohibited. Also another thing I think heavyweights get too much critiscim for is being called chinny when they are stopped. Lewis has got this critiscim so has Wladimir. As far as I am concerned if a heavyweight boxer gets tagged with the p4p equivilant of what Mosley hit Mayweather with it is good night. Yes heavyweights are not quite as fast but they hit a lot harder even p4p and one shot can end it. I think Wladimir is at least top 5 p4p based on the skills he displays although I will agree I have not seen him in a truly great fight since his first clash with Samuel Peter.
not at all. People can talk about the advanced nutriton and training methods that weren't available to fighters during the 60's but the heavyweights of today display an alarming lack of skill and technique. Not to mention they come into the ring fat and out of shape. This is definitely one of the poorest heavyweight eras ever
For sure... the division is nowhere as bad as people say it is... I suppose it was better in the 50s when it was all bums and washed up fossils from the 30s and 40s. How about the 80s? the 80s was way worse than today.. the division today has way more depth than quite a few HW eras in the last 50-60 years, too many people look at boxing with rose colored classes and have a hard on for the past.
Lol at overrated.... it takes balls to come out and say that the HW division isn't as bad as most people say it is.
Very underrated. A good mix of young and old and obviously way behind the 90's and 70's. However, this is the 3rd best era clearly to anyone who understands the game.
As soon as the Klitschkos retire I bet most of the same people who say the division is "dead" will be saying it's alive and well... the division is decent but the Klitschkos are great. simple as that really.
